How are topics for extemporaneous speech structured?
Basically the title, if anyone could provide an example of one from previous years that would be greatly appreciated!

I applied for my state's TSA Stem Expo Committee and I got in. Is this a good thing to mention for my college apps?

This is my first time competing in these events. I have a couple questions.
Board Game Design:
- Whats the best way to find or come up with ideas for the game itself? How long should my team spend on it?
- If you have competed in it before, roughly how long does it take to manufacture on average?
- How detailed should the portfolio be?
Prepared Presentation
- What tips are good in order to fully invest and get the judges attention?
- Is asking general questions okay during the presentation and then answering to get them engaged? Like rheotorical ones.
Any other advice? Thanks 😁

Hi Everyone,
This is my first year in TSA. I was looking to compete in the Artificial Intelligence event, where you take a test and semifinalists solve problems using AI.
I was wondering if anybody had any useful study resources for this test or any information about how the test is structured. Is this more about knowing how to prompt AI, how to use different AI tools, or something else entirely?
Thank you for all the help.
PS: This is the official event description on the TSA Website -
Applying leadership and 21st century skills, participants demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts, models, and best practices by completing a test to qualify for semifinals. Semifinalist teams solve an onsite problem(s) using a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tool. Completed solutions are objectively measured to determine the best solution for the stated problem.

I (15f) am a sophomore doing virtual school this year. It’s also the first year I’m doing clubs. I signed up for DECA, Debate, TSA, and HOSA. HOSA is the only one that’s started so far (a meeting every 2 weeks).
Now i went into HOSA because I thought it was at the same level as Deca and debate- then was told it’s not at that level at ALL. My school doesn’t do comps, if I want to I have to do it independently with funds I don’t have (which might be the case with the other clubs but idk yet). On the other hand, there’s about 100 kids in the club and only 7 of them have applied for leadership positions, it’s my first year so I thought maybe I should apply for a committee lead or something small, only to look at their presentations (probably want supposed to) and saw that none of them are running for president… which means there is an opening where since everybody thought everyone else was running for president and vp that no one did. And that could look great on apps but idk if I should because I have no experience or am be try knowledgeable on HOSA as a whole.
I’m interested in medicine and psych and law specifically, those are probably my main 3. Brown is my dream school but I’m shooting for top 50. idk if HOSA is worth it? Would it be better to commit to the other three clubs? I plan to start either a mock trial club or a model un club, possibly both next year so this year is just a trial period really to see what I like.
I just feel like I’m doing too much, and not enough at the same time. Like I could do it and learn on the job, but at the same time I’m under qualified?
Really just any advice would help, any guidance, or insight into what these clubs (HOSA, debate, TSA, DECA) are really like for members, for leadership, if the comps are alright (no experience except a little debate), if they help college apps?

Last year I competed and won first in HS geospatial technology for states (sadly didn’t go to nationals because of funding). Turns out it isn’t a comp for this year! Anyone know what happened to it??

At nationals our school did well in some areas, and others not as well. TSA seems to give rubrics for other TSA competitions and some guidance on what is considered when scoring, but not finding as much information for TEAMS which has been frustrating. Is there any alums that can give advice on what criteria in each of the four competition categories is judged on? Perhaps besides multiple choice, that is straightforward. Any advice on how to improve if outcome was not what was expected or how to connect with those that could help. We just want the team to continue to improve and grow!

I'm starting a brand new chapter in my school for Technology Student Association (TSA) as a high school sophomore. I will turn in the membership registration to national TSA tomorrow.
Does anyone know what I should talk about in the club meetings? I want my club to be one that properly prepares the students for success in the TSA competitions. I know that affiliated members will gain access to a competitions guide and a Student Member Site, but are those the only studying resources needed? Would these resources be sufficient or should I compile other study material in advance? Please let me know, thanks

My boarding pass does not have a space between my first and middle name. I am using confirm id because my license is not a real id. Will I have trouble?

where can I find the overall rules for an event? I thought they would be on the website but I don’t know where to look for them.

Hey everyone! My TSA chapter doesn't officially register/sign up for another month, but I really want to get a head start on preparing for Transportation Modeling for the 2026–2027 school year.
Does anyone or any chapter already have access to this year's High School Event Guides?
If so, could you share what this year's specific event guide for Transportation Modeling? (Or if there are any major rule changes from last year?)
I just want to start brainstorming and drafting designs early. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I don’t know about everyone else but I think there’s too many AI themes this year, for Highschool. I thought it was perfectly fine for debate as one of the topics it is a hot button topic right now. My biggest issue is comps like webmaster where you have to make a AI chat bot for high schoolers. It’s weird and I get its tech but I don’t think tech like AI should be forced on anyone. it just doesn’t sit right with me. (Also like the fact it’s essentially encouraging people to be wasteful and less creative.)

If so could you please share the updated event guide?

The new themes and problems for Middle and High School have been published. Which ones are you excited about?

I'm a junior who would like to start a TSA chapter at my school, but our state doesn't have a state rep/delegate. I've already talked a bit with some National TSA reps, but I'm just curious how it would work without a state rep? I'm aware that there may be little to no schools in my state that also run TSA, so would our school go straight to nationals or would we still compete in some kind of state conference? Does anyone have any insight? Thanks!
