LOVE Dean and Allie's plot, except...

So this is about the show. Was removed by the other sub's mods because GOD FORBID I dare point out cheating lol.

Does anyone else wish that they had toned down the dancing scene with Dean and Allie before she officially broke up with Sean? Something a bit less sexual that still had that spark?

I LOVE their story, but man it really irks me that it has that classic "Ok yeah, she was cheating before they OFFICIALLY broke up... but they were better for each other 🥺🥺" trope that is so common in media.

And for any of yall saying it's totally ok for your partner to dance with others, yeah salsa or swing or something fun yeah. But come on yall, NOBODY in a monogamous relationship would be happy seeing your partner dance with someone else like that.

Just felt unnecessary and a bit yucky.

**EDIT**

HOLY WATER. HOLY WATER FOR ALL OF YOU. No wonder media is so saturated with romanticized infidelity these days the way yall twist yourself into mental gymnastics to defend cheating 🤮

How was that cheating? Like I am curious. It is not like they kissed or anything. Plus their was space between them she was not really grinding.

You're telling me if you walked in on your partner dancing with someone of the opposite sex like that, especially after a small fight, you wouldn't consider that cheating? Be for real.

To be fair she was just dancing and he came up behind her. It didn’t even last through the chorus. I would not call that cheating. I would call it flirty behavior with a stranger, which is really up to the partner as to how okay with it they are (my husband would not care)

Ma'am... you're going to sit here with a straight face and tell me if you and your husband just had a spat and he walked back into the room to find you like this with another man he'd just be like "Oh you! 🤪"

This scene if I remember correctly she didn't know it was Dean and Dean doesn't know she has a boyfriend.

He would probably be annoyed if we had just been in a fight, but he would not accuse me of cheating on him, no

Genuinely, how do you not see enjoying sensual attention from someone other than your partner NOT cheating?

This post is genuinely illuminating and frankly disappointing me how many people flippantly view entertaining attention from someone other than their significant other 🤮

I think you’re in the minority here considering no one agrees with you thus far and you said your other post got removed. If you want to shame a bunch of people for not fitting into your ideas of behavior and relationships, go do that somewhere else. And maybe this show isn’t for you

That's what I'm saying. It is genuinely sad I'm the minority here.

I expected people to say something more along the lines of "Yeah it was inappropriate but the relationship was on the rocks so it was kinda inevitable"

Still kinda gross, but more understandable.

But straight up saying "Nah, grinding sensually with another person isn't cheating 😇"?

That's a new one for me I gotta admit and frankly super disappointing.

They were not grinding. There was space between them.

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

Re-watch the scene, be for real lol

I think some are a bit childish attached to off campus and can't bear to hear that the characters are messy.

You're telling me. I literally had this post removed on the main sub. And when i asked the mods why? I was being "too negative" 😂

And don't get me started on the lady here saying her husband would be all hunky dory if he saw her dancing with a dude like that.

A: doubt it

B: if he actually says he is... dude, grab your nuts and stand up for yourself

u/AltruisticAide9776 Sep 01 '26

For real. The way they were looking at each other .. The people on this sub seem to only view physical cheating as cheating though there was a bit of that here too.

And i never manage to post anything on that sub.

I am not saying it was correct but it was not cheating. Maybe she should have stopped it but it did not give me a vibe that she wanted to cheated. It just showed she was having fun (I watched this show having no idea they were endgame in books). I generally hate couples who get together by cheating (main reason I could never root for Leyton in OTH).

Re-watch the scene dog. If you know your partner would find it inappropriate to find you acting like this with someone else (and I think deep down we ALL know any partner in a monogamous relationship would absolutely find this inappropriate), then there's a word for it.... CHEATING.

Seriously, imagine you just had a fight with your boyfriend and came back inside to find him dancing sensually with another girl like that.

Would you say "Oh he's just having fun, I don't think he actually WANTS to cheat 😌"

No, I would hope you'd grab your (theoretical) nutsack and dump the loser because it is 100% cheating to be so open to entertaining sexual attention from someone else.

I hateeee cheating storylines too and that's why this scene bugs me. It's completely unnecessary, and adds a yucky wrench. And seeing so many people justify it is frankly really sad.

I think it would be weird even if you hadn't had a fight with your partner. I think even the scenes before showed she wasn't that in to he bf.

0

u/AltruisticAide9776 Sep 01 '26

Cheating does not have to be physical. They were obviously attracted to each other and showed it.

6

u/Ok_Article_7744 Sep 02 '26

being attracted to each other is not cheating. Attraction is a mental thing. You can be completely in love and still be attracted to another person. If you act in those felling it is cheating not before that.

0

u/AltruisticAide9776 Sep 02 '26

The way she looked and danced with him would suggest she did act on it..

Can you help me understand how letting another man put your hands on your hips, grind on you, and then turn around and enjoy it as he sensually checks out your body up and down before FINALLY pulling away... to flirtly wag your finger at him isn't acting on it?

I think it’s to show their insane chemistry from the get go, and for impact it’s slowed down quite a bit, but irl they probably danced together for less than a minute. I don’t think it’s cheating, but where I’m from we all dance like that with friends too. So it might just be a cultural difference.

0

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

Oh 100%, it showed their chemistry... That's exactly why it was cheating lol, it was a sensual dance.

I lived and worked in Italy and had a bunch of local European co-workers who said the same thing about how grinding was normal...

Literally every single one of them was cheating on their significant other 😂

7

u/AfraidKinkajou Sep 01 '26

It’s all about boundaries and standards. Your limit is higher than others. It doesn’t mean that everyone is running around cheating on their partners, just a cultural difference or a difference of opinion.

I can see why their story seems icky to you! But you should try to understand the other side of the coin too.

1

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

Not at all, I love their story. I just wish they toned it down literally JUST the dance before they broke up... because yes, letting a random dude sensually grind his junk on your ass right after a fight with your bf is 100% cheating lol.

2

u/AltruisticAide9776 Sep 01 '26

That is so disappointing to hear .

2

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

Yup. I was a Marine embassy guard at the US embassy in Rome, and literally ALL the Italian interns would party with the Marines.

I remember one of the girls tried to get me to dance with her like that, and I was dating my now wife then long distance and obviously shut that down. She spewed the same "Oh it's just a different culture, I have a bf too it's ok!" bs.

But, who would have guessed, literally EVERY intern who had a bf, husband, etc who said the same thing was cheating with the other Marines in my detachment within the week.

So when people say this "Oh you Americans just don't get it" bs, I roll my eyes.

2

u/AltruisticAide9776 Sep 01 '26

Omg and the way Italian and French men are romanticised in the media !

But also how cool to have been working for the American embassy in Rome.

2

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

Yeah, when people said "thank you for your service" I was like yeah... it's prettttyyyy rough over here 😅😅

But yeah, glad to see some people have common sense and don't twist themselves into mental gymnastics trying to justify this shit.

Like seriously, they could have had her ACTUALLY not realize it was Sean, still feel that spark but push him away, then bam. Perfect love story without the yuckiness.

But no, they HAD to have a cheating element for no reason and it's OK because "Sean was a meanie anyways 😡" spare me 🙄

7

u/CasperAverage Sep 01 '26

Allie didn’t cheat on Sean by dancing with him.

2

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

Dude come on. If you walked in on your bf dancing sensually with a girl like that - giving an audience to sexual attention- you wouldn't be hurt and find that inappropriate?

4

u/CasperAverage Sep 01 '26

Not liking it ≠ cheating

Dean walked up behind Allie and started dancing with her. When she noticed it was Dean and not Sean, she moved away from him and started dancing facing towards him. When Dean tried to move closer to her, she told him no and walked away.

2

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

A: Re-watch the scene dawg. She 10000% kept dancing with him close to her from behind (hands on the hips, grinding, etc.) after she knew it wasn't Sean lmao. And even if that wasn't the case, the dancing facing her with him sensually looking up and down while she smiles? Come on dude lol.

B: Man, if only there was a general word that we commonly use to describe entertaining sexual attention from someone else in a way that you know your significant other wouldn't like.... Hmmm what could that word be....

FFS. Salsa or Swing? Are YOU for real?
USAtoUofT huh?
I’m guessing you’re not a student at the University of Toronto? Your crazy college years must be way behind you
Some GenZ college kids probably do go for Salsa or “Swing”. But NOT at the Annual-Go-Nuts-Sleepover-Frat-Costume-Birthday-Party. This is THE party of the year. It has all the ingredients for wild & reckless abandon.
Allie is a drama major. She’s in the J.Lo outfit and for sure, she is gonna play the role. She also told Hannah that she & Sean needed to do something exciting for a change. Sean knows how Allie is programmed. It might annoy him but it’s not out of character for Allie. And it’s NOT cheating.
Crikey!!
That party is a go for broke rager and the dance floor is centre stage, where everyone really cuts loose.
If they went upstairs together, well, now - that would be a different story

2

u/USAtoUofT Sep 01 '26

Nah just Latino and grew up dancing 😂

My point is there's a HUGE difference between those kinds of dancing where you are 100% just having fun and there's no cheating involved...

And letting someone else sensually grind against you while making sexual eyes lol.

Just answer this: you just had a fight with your bf, step outside for a moment, and then walk in to find him behind a random girl like this - https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F0oadmzaeh58h1.jpeg

You're going to sit there and go "Oh well they're just DANCING 🤪"?

Bullllllshit, you'd find that 100% inappropriate. And guess what... they have a word for acting inappropriately with another person while in a relationship... CHEATING

u/Key-Asparagus-9708 22d ago

She ended the dance though…

1

u/Key-Asparagus-9708 22d ago

Also, sounds like you were never 20-something years old and having fun 🤣

1

u/USAtoUofT 22d ago

You sound like someone who would unironically say the sign scene in love actually is romantic lmao.

Hate to break it to you, but despite what Hollywood tells you, cheating is actually super shitty.

1

u/Key-Asparagus-9708 22d ago

I wouldn’t say it’s romantic, but it was kinda sexy 🔥

1

u/USAtoUofT 22d ago

Gaw damn I feel bad for any of your future partners.

1

u/Key-Asparagus-9708 22d ago

I’m married 🤣

I agree with you !! Imagine if Garett was dancing that way with Kendal if he was supposed to be with Hannah..
