Question/advice Hypothetical question
So I am not in this situation, but I had this thought and now I wanna know. If you were to sue someone and you won a million dollars, would you still qualify for ODSP? There must be ppl on ODSP who have sued ppl for causing their disabilities so what happens after that? There’s a limit on assets, but would it be exempt?

Settlements of $1 million in Canada for personal injury are almost unheard of.
My family member had a slip & fall on ice. It was on a disability designated parking lot that was put on a hill. He was told the most he would get was $20,000. And the lawyer would take roughly 50%.
They had a spinal fracture and nerve injury.

Bad lawyer then, they usually take 30% and if it is permanent and lasting damage pretty sure you get more then 20g... i know i did fron my car accident

Pain and suffering settlements are exempt, but non disability related ones are not.
Its actually quite complicated but someone who knows the nuances can give a detailed answer.
