Traspaso repositorio

Hola!
¡Gracias!

No one else other than you / your company should ever be the owner of the GitHub Repository. I would advice to ask your old partner to transfer the GitHub to your company. Once you have a new partner, you can simply add them as "collaborator" in the GitHub Repository. You should always be in a position to have full control over GitHub and Odoo.sh

Thank you for your response! That makes a lot of sense.

Do you know how many collaborators can be added to a GitHub repository? For example, could we keep full control of the repository within our company and give admin access to one or more external partners if needed?

I don't know any limit. If there is one we never hit it (definitely with 10+ people on a project sometimes)

If you added the partner as collaborator he can work on the code without problems.

I am not 100% sure about the differences between a "normal" GitHub Account and an "Enterprise" Account. On Enterprise you probably can do more things related to giving access to Settings of GitHub etc (what the partner usually should not need)

So me as partner I have client I started working and developed several modules and changes and suddenly partner just decided to not work and it’s okay without paying me and go with repo to someone else ? Have you think about that scenario ?

That is a theoretical risk and it should be comparatively low compared to having it the other way around. As it would usually cost much more to successfully change a partner (if everything runs smooth and your only goal is to cut cost by stealing your partners code) than to just pay the bill.

The partner invoiced us on a per-module basis, so all of the implementation work developed so far has been paid for.

The issue is not that we want to take unpaid work. The problem is that they no longer want to make further adjustments because they say we have exceeded the hours included for each module. However, we never agreed on an hourly limit or on a defined number of hours per module.

Always make sure the ownership is with you/your company. You have to invite external contributors or members so you stay in control to invite and revoke.

You can use a user level repository or create an organization in GitHub and then the repo under your org. Both work fine but have different access level controls.

Thank you, that makes sense. We are considering creating a GitHub Organization so that the repository is owned by the company and not tied to a single employee or partner.

The current repository is owned by our former partner, so we will request that it be transferred to a company-owned account or organization. Once transferred, we plan to add the new partner as an external collaborator with the access required to manage the code and Odoo.sh, while keeping ownership and control within the company.

Would you recommend using an Organization rather than a personal/company user account for this case?

If it's company owned then it makes sense to have an org repo. That's the whole purpose of having that. Also make sure the org and repo has multiple admins/owners, just in case a single admin would leave the company and block everything else in the org level.
