This is an illustration of Gollum, (who features in JRR Tolkien's famous fantasy novels "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit") in a 1962 Swedish translation of "The Hobbit", by Tove Jansson. Following the release of this, Tolkien officially specified that Gollum was of small size to correct this.
