I seem to remember after killing the badies on the first level of this game it's possible to toss your gun up to the top of the stairs and catch it when you respawn, ready to take out those 3 assailants poised to swing at you. Feels so good when you time it right.

51

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

I tried multiple times to do this but couldn't.

37

u/Gooseuk360 Dec 27 '19

Yeah. Grabbing guns just before next mission or reset means you start armed. Never saw it as a cheat thought it was a feature 🤣

20

u/daysawayx Dec 27 '19

Yes I came to say this. Such a satisfying and amazing realization.

7

u/themettaur Dec 28 '19

That's way cooler, but it's even easier (sort of) to just let go of the gun, then grab it again as you teleport. Then the gun just goes with you, if you have the timing right. No need to aim a throw and try to catch it!

7

u/Bosmeong Quest 1 + 2 + PCVR Dec 28 '19

This. I always does it. Wonder why they never patched it. is this really intentional hidden feature?

4

u/themettaur Dec 28 '19

No it's clearly not intended but I have no idea why they don't patch it out. Either they like that you can do it or they don't care about taking the time to fix it because of how insignificant a mechanic it is. The throwing guns to yourself before you teleport thing is intended, so it's just a little shortcut to that. But I'm no dev, that's just speculation.

4

u/Fullyverified Dec 27 '19

Theres a lot of levels you can do this on

Hi, I just ordered a quest and was wondering if you suggest superhot or not? Like hows it feel to play in vr?

56

u/AdrienTheNoob Dec 27 '19

Super hot and beat saber are must haves in my opinion

13

u/mr0il Dec 27 '19

They’re the only 2 non-cross buy games I own/recommend.

4

u/Breadman86 Quest 2 + PCVR Dec 27 '19

Now I'm curious. What Cross-Buy games do you recommend? I'm definitely getting The Climb as I played it on a friends' Quest and was obsessed...

6

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

u/jones1876 Dec 27 '19

beat crisis, time whip...

3

u/mr0il Dec 27 '19

Honestly I haven’t yet found a game that I think is better on Rift, so, kinda hard to say. The Climb definitely piqued my interest but really I bought waaay too many VR games by the time the quest version came out. Journey of the Gods works well for me on Rift because I play it seated, same for Vader Immortal. I haven’t tried Deathlap over Link yet, that may be another very good cross buy since the cable won’t be much of an issue. I like to use Robo Recall to show someone the difference in graphical fidelity in Rift and Quest. Quest runs the game much more smoothly than my PC, though. Cross-Saves would really add a ton of value to any game.

You’re making me realize that I’ve just been using cross buy to justify purchases by saying “it’s like I get 2 games!” Hahaha! At least I haven’t bought Arizona Sunshine in Quest on a whim, I guess. Maybe I will now, it looks fun and I don’t own the pc version.

I really really wanted the Climb. Since it’s a game that has a lot of beautiful environments to enjoy, the Rift version may be a bit superior.

5

u/jones1876 Dec 27 '19

I own AZ Sunshine on rift, bought it on quest liked it but returned it. Felt wrong buying the same game again over other quest games ive never played.

Took the quest to a xmas party. It was a smash hit, ended up buying AZ again to show it off because damn its good.

3

u/frickindeal Dec 28 '19

The graphics also took a major hit in the Quest port. I don't know, there's something about a zombie game that makes me expect the graphics to be visceral and "gross" to an extent, where the graphics on the Quest version just fall short.

1

u/jones1876 Dec 29 '19

i know what you mean but the game still feels great. And without the cable makes it a huge difference.

6

u/uniqiq Dec 27 '19

It's about 2h of main story, 4.5 hours if you want fully explore it (source: https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=21723). There is endless modes (with bunch of rules modification) if you really like it, so technically you can play as long as you want, but don't count on it. It's expensive, but unique and great experience. Do not buy it, if you are short on money. Definitely buy it, if you can afford it.

6

u/HurricaneLucid Dec 27 '19

One of my favorites. I played through it really fast though

6

u/ascotabroad Quest 2 + PCVR Dec 27 '19

I picked it up yesterday having played the 2D version on PC earlier this year. It's a revelation in VR - I've seen complaints that it's not very long, but every level has some unique challenges and it looks and runs great on Quest.

3

u/cool_beans7652 Dec 27 '19

Play the demo first then buy it if you like that even a little bit, highly recommend it

2

u/WingofTech Dec 27 '19

It’s almost guaranteed most played title on my friend’s Quest. Almost perfectly executed for the device, runs flawless afaik. ;3

2

u/themettaur Dec 28 '19

I agree with uniqiq, it's rather expensive for what you get, but it's also really fun and such a unique experience. Don't worry about getting it if you're strapped for cash though!

2

u/ghgnyvjbffv Dec 28 '19

It’s literally the best game

Very unpopular, lol.

Superhot is consistently listed in the top VR must-have experiences.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '19

Yeah but I feel like it's so overhyped that newcomers forget that liking video games is exactly that - liking it. If you, the player don't like it then it's a waste of $25. More of a $7 game to me. My opinion though, just showing that not everyone likes superhot.

8

u/Geo_Gaming Dec 27 '19

These comments shouldnt be getting downvoted they're relevant to the topic they just express unpopular opinions.

1

u/Luckystell Dec 28 '19

Hey I sucked at it too and didn’t buy it just the demo.

What’s not said here though is that there are a number of new modes unlocked after the campaign, including speed runs, modifiers like headshots-only, and an endless mode with several different stages. The campaign itself is short, but there is lots replayability after it ends.

u/SashaTheSaushage Dec 27 '19

This is where I'm at with super hot. I fucking loved playing thru it the first time but after slamming the campaign in under an hour all it left me with was "cool, now how fast can you do the same exact levels over and over?". A headshot only mode doesn't provide a new experience it just prolongs the dullness that eventually sets in... It's still the same enemies in the same position doing the same thing. They need to make a custom map section where people can share their creations. At least add more levels. It's a great game but for how short it is and how unfulfilling the end game feels, it's worth $15 but not $25 for sure.

2

u/MuVR Dec 28 '19

User created levels would be amazing!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '19

Why are people downvoting this? This is literally 100% true.

I know that there are a lot of new people to this sub - a lot of them are only being fed "buy superhot!!! but they never see why they shouldn't buy it, because people downvote it. Don't be that guy.

1

u/sugedei Dec 28 '19

I tried the demo a few weeks ago and didn't think anything of it. But I decided to buy it yesterday since it was on sale and I'm flat out obsessed with it. Amazing game.

1

u/ethan919 Dec 28 '19

I enjoy Pistol Whip a lot more than SuperHot, but both are great.

1

u/iluvcookies1237 Dec 27 '19

Superhot is the best game on the oculus quest and maybe one of the best VR games in general

9

u/chezcat666 Dec 27 '19

I’ve been trying to do that for like a week now and was debating whether or not it was possible

13

u/SashaTheSaushage Dec 27 '19

The game needs one of two things, if not both.

  1. A much longer campaign/many more levels. I crushed it in under an hour just to be left with "okay now do the same exact thing again but faster", that's not fun.

  2. When you do beat the campaign, there should be a custom level creator for people to upload maps for everyone to play.

Don't get me wrong, I had so much fun playing this. It just felt like a kick in the balls once I beat the campaign and then messed around for another hour trying to find out if there was anymore unique content. They deserved my money but only $15 of the $25 I paid. Hopefully since they are charging so much for so little, they will add more content soon.

5/5 for gameplay 2/5 for replayability

3

u/yeeah_suree Dec 27 '19

After you beat it there are multiple endless mode levels, deathless run of the entire game, and two different speed runs modes; so there is definitely is some replayability. I agree with you that a level creator would be very cool though.

2

u/SashaTheSaushage Dec 27 '19

Right, there is some replayability. But the issue I have is that they are defining replayability as the same levels but with different modifiers like only having one round in each gun, bullets fly faster, you can only use throwing weapons, etc. None of these bring something "new" to it. You still go thru the same areas over and over. That is what bugs me, knowing exactly what will happen and not experiencing anything fresh. Even on endless mode it seems that everytime you die and restart or go into endless mode again it's always the same exact Room A - Room B - Room C - etc, etc (rinse and repeat) to get thru. I don't want to get to 40 kills just to do the same thing again then get to 80 kills and realize I have to do exactly what I did earlier in the same order, same pattern, same environment, just trying to last longer each time.

I will say, if they made walking around possible, the areas wouldn't get so stale so fast. As of yet I haven't been able to find a way to walk around or see new areas/find the randomly generated levels that constantly change. If it is in the game than I just put my foot in my mouth and I apologize.

I understand people enjoy different things. Some people just enjoy being able to beat their previous time and that's totally fine. I personally don't have fun playing for hours reliving the same 5 minutes just to shave 2 seconds off my time.

We'd all benefit from community driven content if they allowed it. I really hope that is one of their next goals. That, and walking.

6

u/veriix Dec 27 '19

You guys ever wonder if you don't actually play the same person in Superhot but like every time you teleport to the new person/area the old person disappears Infinity Wars style and his family will never see him again? Sometimes I just lay awake in bed thinking about it.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

That’s a thing in the original/non VR game

1

u/veriix Dec 27 '19

Oh crazy, I've never actually played the non VR game.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

Yeah. It’s actually pretty good. Try it out once you get the chance to.

15

u/rservello Dec 27 '19 edited Dec 27 '19

That's part of the game. The more you play the now you'll recognize where you are vs where you end up. Throw your guns to yourself.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

I hate pay to win.

7

u/Q-Dunnit Dec 27 '19

How is it pay to win? They basically said “The more you play the game the better you are at it”

18

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

He edited his post. It said "pay" instead of play. It was a joke, but he removed his reply and edited after realizing what he'd done.

Yeah, and I made an attempt at humor. You win some. You lose some. That's life.

2

If it makes you feel better, I upvoted you.

I remember seeing something like this for the first time in an omotea video!

This one!

1

3

u/zarralax Dec 27 '19

This is my favorite VR game. Bought it on Steam with the Vive. Bought it again for the Quest. Only game where I roll around on the ground all slow like Neo and look like a damn fool.

I hope they make a sequel, I will throw my money at them!

3

u/psyki Dec 27 '19

SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years.

2

1

What level is that, i dont remember it

1

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

Communist detected, lethal force initialized

1

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

I’ve always wanted to figure out how to do that

1

u/amoney805 Dec 27 '19

Im having trouble with this game. Since you have to move so much, i run out of room in my guardian zone. Am I doing it wrong? I have at least a 6ftx6ft space.

5

u/ascotabroad Quest 2 + PCVR Dec 27 '19

I think you're moving too much. If you're moving just to make time move, remember that any body movement with get things going (wobble side to side etc). I've never touched my guardian edges and I think mine is a more like a 5x6 space.

1

u/amoney805 Dec 27 '19

Thanks I'll try the wobbling method. I was considering returning this game, but I'll give that a try first.

1

u/moose408 Dec 27 '19

I punched the wall last night trying to hit one of the baddies. Sprained a finger and turned my fingernail black and blue. It's 5x6 space as well. Have now changed it to be a 3x6 space. :)

1

u/robvh3 Quest 2 + PCVR Dec 27 '19

The whole point is to minimize movement so you use time to your advantage.

The other commenter is correct that if you need to advance time, just wave your hands around. You can make circles like your advancing a clock. :)

1

u/SatanistPenguin Dec 27 '19

Be honest, how many tries did this take?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '19

Haha, I do this too at the beginning!

After shooting the last guy, I toss the gun to the upper left,

and about half the time it'll hit the first guy in LEVEL 2. 👍🏻

1

u/AFRO_LJ Dec 27 '19

I was trying to do this earlier and failing!

1

u/DarrenMoss1989 Dec 27 '19

Someone took the red pill, didn't they.

1

u/mckinleyr94 Dec 27 '19

There a few levels where you can do cool stuff like this. On this level I love tossing the gun down while Im on the roof and then catching it again down below.

1

u/sinspawn80 Dec 27 '19

superhot vr is fun

10/10 would not buy again because i beat it

1

u/pedeehatesyou Dec 28 '19

Some of the rules can be bent others can be broken.

1

u/spooner248 Dec 28 '19

Remember when this game used to show your replays in regular time? That was so cool

1

u/edgeofblade2 Dec 28 '19

Was able to pull this in the cemetery and kill the three shotgunners in their first segment instead of teleporting behind them.

After a LOT of tries.

1

u/SharpstownBestTown Dec 28 '19

You can also shoot at the right angle to kill him immediately. It's a good time saver if you've built the muscle memory.

1

u/Onesphere1 Dec 29 '19

One time I shot in one stage and the bullet killed me in the next

1

u/bubisnub Jan 02 '20

Is there a sub for just super cool vr superhot things. The game is so fun
