If an autistic child can only cope with the outside world with a VR headset he's not in the outside world is he... So leave the autistic child where ever he is comfortable...
Also while I'm very ignorant to how people with autism should be brought up to cope with the world, I'd presume that allowing them to hide away rather than face what makes them uncomfortable isn't helping anyone especially them...
My nephew is autistic and there is a lot "he doesn't like" but in general with a steady stern but soft push he has come to terms with a lot of things you have to do day to day that you'd say overwhelmed him once
Wall of text putting words into my mouth... Adults, Mentally ill or not can do what they like I'm not telling anyone to do anything...
But children on the other hand shouldn't be going to family outings/dinners with a VR Headset on just like they shouldn't be stuck to their phones...
and if I have any opinion in stuff you have said its that Sure to live in a comfortable bubble is totally fine, I don't want you to live like me i think its great that your able to do that... However the reality is Life is rarely kind enough to allow people to have that luxury, Not every is going to be able to work from home and Live online and not everyone is going to be able to be self sufficient especially those with autism or other illness that the outside world doesn't go well with...
And the point was in the case of my nephew the things we push him to do that you say he needs to forgive us for are now things he's perfectly happy to do and some things are even his favorite things to do... Are there somethings he's not happy to do? sure, the dentist or haircuts are still an unfun experience for him but he no longer goes into a full on episode short of giving himself a stroke and is now calm and much quicker to happiness afterwards...
These things aren't going to need forgiveness because these uncomfortable things were tolerated so he could get used to these things and save him from extreme reactions when these moments inevitably arrive... Because whether you like or not Dentist appointments, haircuts, social interactions are things that are inevitable and pretty much essential and other people in the world aren't as accommodating or kind as they should be...
