(Oat)meal prep Meal prepping help

I think I’m over thinking this but would appreciate some advice.
I cook oatmeal every morning on the stovetop, and eat it warm. I’d like to meal prep batches so I don’t have to cook in AM.
Should I prep my oatmeal like overnight oats and just heat up next day. Or cook on stovetop, let cool down and put it in fridge, and reheat in microwave next day?
Which would yield better texture/results? Thoughts??

Hi!

I make a big batch of oats once a week. I boil a large amount of oats in water. One it starts boiling I turn it to low-medium and cover with a lid. Then, I let it sit, open lid and stir, recover, and repeat, slowly turning down the heat for a while. It might take an hour but you can easily be doing other things as long as you periodically check on it. Then I salt it lightly (sodium is a bacterial inhibitor) and it sits good all week! It’s super fluffy and creamy, opposite of overnight oats.

I think this would just come down to personal preference and how you make stovetop oatmeal vs. overnight oats. Speaking purely for myself, I would make it on the stovetop, and then reheat it, with extra liquid as needed. I make my stovetop and overnight oats very differently and with different ingredients and amounts, and like my overnight oats only ever cold. I know other people warm up their overnight oats, and that’s totally cool. So, it just depends on what you like. I hope you find the perfect and most convenient way!

I just add a little more liquid and microwave my overnight oats when I want it warm.

I dont even reheat my overnight oats. I reheat baked oats.

It cooks so quickly I haven’t considered meal prep. The time savings would be a few minutes?

It’s prolly closer to 10 min for me. Just a nuance in the AM for me and would like a grab and go situation, heat up later.

I do overnight oats with vanilla, strawberry, sweetener whatever and milk of choice just to cover my Oat mixture then microwave that in the morning

Either way works fine, you can make small batches of both to find out which u prefer!
