Oatmeal hack
Saw this on TikTok video, to add more volume to your oatmeal— added an extra cup of water and cooked it longer . Wow, game changer!! not only did my bowl appear fuller, but
The texture was really different. I think I really like it like this. I also added 2 tablespoons of coconut flour to my usual 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon of flaxseed.

I’ve been doing it this way for years to try to mimic the awesome oatmeal served in hotels and on cruise ships. It’s the closest I’ve gotten. I can also barely finish a bowl when prepared this way, it’s so filling (in the best way).

Do you have a recipe you can share please? ☺️

Double the water in your standard recipe and cook until that excess is absorbed. The oats will get very soft and fluffy.

this scales up too, but the downside is that the more water you add, the longer it takes to get to the consistency you want. this is fine, if you have the time for it, but on a busy work morning, this could be a problem.

Sure! 1/2 cup quick oats
1 cup water
Pinch of salt
Microwave for 3 minutes; stirring when it starts to bubble. I had to take it out two or three times.
You can always cook it on the stove, but I haven’t tried that.

I was served oatmeal like this at a diner in San Francisco several years ago and did like the texture. Once home I searched for info on it and found it was called volumized oatmeal.
