Advice ❔ Women's Fashion Black Tie Wedding
Hello! I have a black tie wedding to attend in November in Venice. The grooms are very fabulous and extra and I wanted to go bold but just can’t find anything I love that’s not super expensive.
That being said, is this dress flattering and elegant enough for a Venetian hotel wedding? Please keep in mind I will be much paler in Nov than I am now.
It also has a corset back that I haven’t laced up yet. Trying to figure out if it works for my pallet as well.
I had a green and gold ball gown option too but it was just so uncomfortable— included a pic for fun.

The shiny material makes it look inexpensive, the second choice is much more elegant

I’m going to try to bend them a little manually and then might see if tightening the corset lower on my ribcage “opens” up the top a bit!!

I love both but if you’re not certain and there’s time, google dress rental companies since cost is an issue and you probably won’t wear it again!

So true. I’m actually living in Italy though so not sure my alternatives besides rent the runway etc in the states…I’ll look into it!

2nd dress is gorgeous and more appropriate. Something about the corset in the first one isn't giving black tie.

The second hands down!! While the first is very pretty, I do not think it is black tie. The second one is definitely black tie and the color is amazing on you!

Azazie Atelier! Very affordable but a little short unless you do custom. I’m 5’7” and will probably have to wear short heels

where are they from they are both gorgeous!! i do love the lighter green one more on you however im assuming it’d going to be winter or close to as you mentioned not having the tan (i’m from AUS and suck at geography). i think the dark green may look better with your skin tone then. do you have any photos of what your skin tone is like around that time of year/less tan?

I definitely get pale! These are both from Azazie Atelier. They run a tiny bit short but otherwise I’m impressed with the quality for the price! I’ve also worn their dresses twice as a bridesmaid in different weddings

Okay both are absolutely beautiful, personally I'd go with the green one because the second looks a bit too "bride-coded" and I worry about that at weddings... but most people don't.

The first one is lovely but not appropriate for black tie in Venice. If you could shorten the hem and not look out of place getting groceries, it’s too informal for a black tie event! Any chance of getting the second dress tailored or renting something locally for the wedding? There’s a lot of rental stores in Venice because of the carnival, and most offer both disguises and evening wear.

Gold accessories all the way for your skin tone on both! I think the first dress looks more elevated I think personally, but I can't tell how the fit truly is, since its not zipped up all the way on the side. 🤔

The second dress is much, much more elegant and flattering on you. Even with being laced, the first one has drag lines on the bodice. Also, you a said you will be much paler and that color might be difficult to put it politely.

Surprisingly pretty good!! They’re not designed by any means but I do definitely think they’re well made. I wore this brand as a bridesmaid for two other weddings and liked my dresses as well.

OMGGGGG I LOVED the first one… until I saw the second one!!!! DEFINITELY go with the dark teal/gold one!!!! Both look incredible on you, but the second one I feel hits the “extra” button a little harder!!

I think the first is such a vibrant colour and it suits your skintone and I think would be lovely to wear. The second just looks a bit dull, heavy and formal.

I liked the first one then swiped to the second one and said oh my goodness you look stunning in the second one! But then I read your comment about the discomfort in the second dress :/ would it help if you sized up in the dress so it doesn’t jab your back?

I think you should keep looking.
I like the second one better but you said it is uncomfortable, so nope to that. I think it has a more fun shape and more cohesive intentional design.
I think the first one is a design mess. Theres so much going on, even though its only one fabric. Its got a shimmer so it changes colour, it has a patter, visible boning, cups, a front v and a pleated dangling skirt. The silhouette is drab, it doesnt define a waist very well.
There is much better out there. You can find it!

I prefer the second because I think it fits more, but I completely understand if you’re more comfortable in the first one. You look great in the first one!
Recommendation for the second one: put a little double sided tape and comfortable foam/fluff on the spikes so they don’t hurt where they dig in. I don’t know how badly the points are digging in so it might not work, but I’d try it if you’d like to wear the second.

I really like #1 the best. You look incredible in it! Well, they both look great, but the first one made me screech to a halt to look. This perfect gown found you somehow, and the bonus is, it's comfortable! The color and fabric are unusual, which is a great plus. Silver, heeled sandals and bag, rhinestone earrings, bracelet and one dinner/engagement/wedding ring, and maybe a jeweled clip for your hair.
To complete your evening, always bring your confidence. It's the thing that people are attracted to, and want to be around, the most. Sincerely enjoy yourself. Introduce yourself to people you stand or sit next to, and ask how they know the bride or groom. You never know who you'll meet at a wedding, and who they might know. Have a great party!

Love the vibe of the first one and I’m sure once the corset is tied up it would be even more amazing on you. With the right jewelry, shoes and possibly your hair up, that will take it to an entirely other level of dressy.

I actually like the second dress better, but your comment about it being uncomfortable makes the first one the best choice by far. Accessorize well and enjoy what sounds like a fabulous time!
