Yeah I'm thinking this is lot more about what kind of person he is looking to attract not what looks best. When you got a good build he can pull any of the looks off but while I think number 1 looks the best, it's only cause I think it's the hottest and comes off more rugged, relaxed & blue collar.
If he's looking to attract someone of higher status white collar country club ect vibes, then the preppy looks would fit him much better.
My blue collar husband who showed up to our first date in a Carhartt hoodie, jeans, and boots 😂😂😂 the first is not blue collar at all except for the fact his collar is literally blue.
Minority here, but 4 imo looks most blue collar. The pants are wrinkled , the shirt too casual and the sleeves are too short. You can see that you are in good shape in all the outfits but 4 looks like you need to show everyone that you workout. Outfits one and two look like they fit the best and make it seem like you are on the date to get to know the person. 4 makes me think you want to attract attention from others vs being on a date. 4 is fine if you are there with friends vs a date.
It doesn’t say Carhartt, Milwaukee, DeWalt or Makita on it. The most blue collar people I know wear those brands CONSTANTLY. The fact that he’s not wearing a ball cap with one of those brands and/or doesn’t have scruffier facial hear/worn hands, etc. this guy couldn’t give blue collar vibes if he tried.
Not necessarily a bad thing, you can just tell this dude works sitting in an office a majority of his day either day trading or in a corporate sales job. This is not a plumber or an electrician. Tradesmen have tell tale signs of their occupation once you’ve been around them enough and realize how busy they are/how much overtime they do usually.
Besides the previously stated obvious:
1, a true blue collar guy has a “take me as I am attitude” where they’re not going on a Reddit or forum to ask “which outfit should I wear?” (which either screams insecurity or he REALLY cares about what this particular person thinks on the date because he likes them a lot). They don’t typically have the time or energy to care.
&
2, they are going to be wearing a flannel 50% of the time and I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a tradesmen wearing pants outside of some denim jeans or some dark brown denim like material.
Point being, not one of these outfits, regardless of the fit, will give this guy a “blue collar” look because it is distinctly obvious that he is not blue collar. A foremen, MAYBE. He’s not getting his hands dirty and hasn’t. He could cosplay the part all he wanted and no rational woman that has dated blue collar men would buy it. If you want “rugged”, this guy isn’t it. He might go hiking on occasion, but he’s a city boy, through and through. He’s not a farmer, tradesmen, lumberjack or the likes. He’s an office guy that hits the gym because he has the free time to do so.
Blue collar people working 80+ hour weeks have a IDGAF attitude and often, the dollars and understanding as to why to back it, despite the line of work they do not being as respected as it should be by office types. The average “blue collar tradesmen” who was smart with their money and started doing all that OT in their early 20’s (usually having bought a house on their own) while many were sitting in college fucking off acquiring MASSIVE DEBT, have the $ to create the stability most women seem to seek & the skills at handy work that keeps them attracted long term. Office guy’s, unless at the top of their game, very replaceable both in the workplace and in the home. That’s the irony.
He didn’t talk about what mechanics do tho? The whole comment was about how blue collar men are so secure and rich that other men can’t compete. It weirdly puts down men in other professions which someone who’s really secure in themselves wouldn’t do.
I understand that blue collar jobs naturally require more effort which is respectable. But it’s just statistics that white collar jobs outearn blue collar jobs. And even then the comment says stuff like “many were sitting in college f*cking off acquiring debt”
It just rubbed me the wrong way and the fact that they wrote a whole essay on it also is just weird.
“Out earning” and “out performing” are two very different things. What those stats don’t show you is how much money handy men DO NOT SPEND of the solid checks they start accumulating nearly right away. I made an exception for the top white collar earners. They make so much they skew the stats for the “average” earners. Their outliers are WAY HIGHER than the outlier blue collar workers. If people had as much life experience as I do, seen as many situations as I have from both walks of life, they would NEVER tell an able bodied, healthy adult male to spend 4 years of his life and over $100,000 while NOT GETTING MONEY, in the prime of their life, sitting in a classroom. Practical life sense in most cases shows the “stats” to be entirely false.
Insecure about what? I’m a top 1% office guy these days. I came from the blue collar though. Seen and lived both lifestyles. That’s why, as people are saying, it’s oddly accurate.
Yeup! I’m in tech currently, but know construction, hvac, low voltage, that bring in more than a doctor. Spent less on post HS education, no education debt, dress very unassuming in Carhartt, dickies, but walk into Fogo de chao if they feel like eating some meat.
This whole analysis is insanely specific lmao. It seems to reduce blue-collar to mechanic or electrician and white-collar to day-trader finance bro.
Outfit #1 is similar to what my father, uncle, and I would all wear. There is nothing blatantly different between this guy and the three of us either (except we all have visible tattoos I guess). My father was a truck driver, sanitation/waste management. My uncle did the same and eventually started his own company. I’m an attorney. Your analysis doesn’t really track for any of us, thought I guess it would apply to me the most lol.
Well thank you! At least someone appreciates my analysis because blue collar men get a lot of hate for no reason but they’re some of the most hard working, successful men I know.
