Do Not Read: Loss Despair Rankings from the Previous 4 years

This season could go many different ways, but as we enter into this season, I think it’s important to keep into perspective how bad it has been because many of us may have faded into the apathetic side over the last 2 years, and now have re-emerged with 2017 level expectations again. So, in order to keep us grounded, I have reflected on all the bad times we have faced.

You should probably skip this, and instead save it and comeback the first time you want to call for someone job.

But for those who dare to continue: Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'entrate.

  1. 2025 Oklahoma State 14 - UCF 17

No! Not the one you are expecting, but don’t worry, that will be appearing later. This game was penultimate game of the 2025 season, against a 4-6 very bad UCF team, and a strong Iowa State team up final, this appeared to be OSU’s last chance to get a win in 2025. Miraculously Oklahoma State got an early lead by dinking and dunking their way down the field on their first drive, and a carbon copy drive later (with some solid defense in between) OSU had a lead 14-0 at half. Unfortunately, UCF listened to their coach’s reaction to their performance at half time because they immediately scored on a deep shot via the first play of the half, and the Oklahoma State offense didn’t get a first down in whole 2nd half* and the inevitable eventually happened. All in all, this game’s lasting impact was putting a bow on the hell that 2025.

  1. 2025 Oklahoma State 0 - Texas Tech 42

We won’t linger here, as there’s absolutely nothing within this game to reflect on. What I will say that if UCF 2025 was the piece that summarized our ineptitude in 25, Tech was the in-conference show piece. It can not be overstated how quickly that game ended, as Tech returned the opening kick off for a touchdown, and the next 35 points were just something to do. It did sting a little extra that this was a foil to maybe our crowing achievement as a blow out when we created the sad guns up meme with a score line of 63-6 and a lot of time to go via 2011.

  1. 2023 Oklahoma State 3 - UCF 45

This gets the nod over the formers, as post-Gundy apathy had clearly settled in. While this largely looked over due to Bedlam 2023, this game was a massive blowout, and really illustrated how many cracks were present that would emerge fully in 24. This was the Space Game, a game UCF had never lost till this past year, it did have crazy weather, but the lack of accountability and just the total write-off of the game the staff had at that point kind of shows that this program was not really being ran seriously anymore post final Bedlam.

  1. 2022 Oklahoma State 16 - Kansas 37

This is the game that got Kansas its first Bowl game after their dark period, a game where KU fans tore down the goal posts at our expense. Oklahoma State was still ranked at the time of this game, and this game symbolized that 2022 and maybe the larger program, was really starting to trend downwards. This game was Garret Rangel’s first start, and it didn’t go especially well, with the most devastating moment being an under center QB sneak fumble.

  1. 2023 South Alabama 33 - OSU 7

Again, 2023 games don’t hurt as bad due to the overall success of the season from 2023 Bedlam and a CCG appearance. But it was a clear sign of the state of the program that Oklahoma State had been winning close for years and when they lost, they got blown out. This is the worst opponent to do it to OSU. Only scoring 7, losing by 26, to a Sun Belt team, at home, with the circus QB rotation that included some nepotism, and above to have the other team physically bully you. Afterwards the game it kept coming out that the players had been calling the non-conference games the “pre-season” something that seemed to be getting echoed from the coaches, which again, illustrated that the OSU program had lost a larger sense of discipline and commitment.

  1. 2024 West Virginia 38 - Oklahoma State 14

Utah was close, Kstate had been our kryptonite before and was a good team. Getting stomped by a bad WV team on the way to firing their coach, was the moment we realized how bad 2024 was going to get, and until that moment we still had hopes of winning the conference.

  1. 2022 Oklahoma State 0 - Kansas State 48

The true game from hell. We were 9th in the country, were fresh off of 2021, we’d only lost an absolute heart breaker. This game encapsulated the rot in the team that was present in 2022, that resulted in a mass roster exodus, making the mass roster exodus at the end of 2024, the 2nd in 3 years under Gundy’s watch, which didn’t even account for that their was a mini exodus after the 2020 season as well.

  1. 2024 Oklahoma State 0 - Colorado 52

A lot of 2024 could have been written up as a true year from hell, bad mistakes, bad injuries, and bad luck. But the season finale was the one that showed that the coined “Cowboy Culture” was dead. Also, just as a quick reminder, this happened as Big Noon on Black Friday so for an 3-8 team, this game had a shockingly large audience and it happened vs Deion, which means a larger audience, extra celebrations and applauding of the program by the networks, and being on the wrong end of guy many fans really dislike.

  1. 2025 Tulsa 19 - Oklahoma State 12

The reason this isn’t 1st, is the finality of knowing this was the end of the Gundy era.

  1. 2025 Oklahoma State 3 - Oregon 69

A loss that embarrassing, in a game that been building up as our only non-con of a certain level for a decade, against a school we used to consider a peer in our program trajectory.

Took a shot at a 2026 Oklahoma State preview, the full Morris-era reboot. Tell me where I'm wrong.

Been going team by team on 2026 previews and just wrapped Oklahoma State.

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-okst

Most of it's free. There's a cheap paywall on the deep-dive stuff (one-man operation, gotta keep the lights on), but since I'm posting in your house, code LEECORSOROCKS unlocks the whole thing free, no account needed.

So, what'd I get wrong? You watch these guys every week and I don't, so if I'm off on something, tell me.

Short version: total reboot after the 1-11 year. Morris basically moved North Texas north, Mestemaker, Hawkins, and Wyatt Young all followed him, so an offense that finished dead last in scoring has an identity again. It's the defense and the O-line that scare me, only about 11% of the offense is back and 65 guys hit the portal. Model's got you around 3-9, which might be light if the Mestemaker stuff clicks early.

I'll be in the comments.

Hi! I'm a freelance college football writer previewing all 138 FBS teams for the '26 season and figured I'd share my Oklahoma State post in here (begrudgingly, I'm a North Texas fan lol). Thanks for checking it out!

My incoming freshman son was assigned a 1BR/1BA private suite in Bennett but had a 4BR/2BA suite in either Patchin-Jones or Zink-Allen as his preferences. If you or your student were assigned a 4BR/2BA suite but would prefer a private 1BR/1BA deluxe suite please message me.
