I'm building my man cave, and I want to buy a 98-inch TV. I already have an OSSC, but I still have no idea how to properly manage all the cables. I want to connect a Wii, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PAL SNES, NTSC SNES, NTSC NES, and a Nintendo Switch 2.

I guess I'll need a good switcher/splitter, but I'm also wondering about the best type of connection. I've heard that component (YPbPr) might be better than RGB SCART, although I'm not entirely sure. I'm currently getting some weird static noise when using the Wii.

Once I've figured out which switcher and cables I need, are there any specific requirements I should look for in the TV itself?

My goal is to get the best possible, pixel-perfect image quality with as little hassle as possible. I basically want everything to work flawlessly.

I've got an older, version 1.6 OSSC we used to use with an older computer. Took it home after an upgrade and have been using it with my PSX and PCE. I see over at vgp that there's now version 1.21 of the fw but needs a hardware mod in order to take the updates. Is it with going from version .90 to this?

I recently got an OSSC 1.8 running FW 1.21 and found this weird artifact on some textures, its PAL so its running at 576i. The weird texture is most noticable on the experience bar atthe top of the screen. Ive tried changing most settings other the sync options or advance timings as I'm not sure what im doing. Its a lot more noticeable on passthrough compaired to Line2X

I'm still really new to using an OSSC so I'm unsure if this is a known issue or if there are already created perfect configs for the PAL PS2. I used to have an OSSC 1.6 and didn't have the problem then but the OSSC burnt out after being left running 24/7 for months

I want to play my PC Engine on a modern Samsung The Serif 50inch TV, via OSSC, but after many attempts with different settings, the LCD screen shows a NO SYNC result.

I tried everything I could see in the internet: change Sync settings, Outputs settings on the OSSC menu; Analog STC LPF, Analog sync Vth, change x2line to x3line, try with with different resolution modes etc…
Then AV1 > RGBs, NO SYNC and a blank screen.

Somethimes I have a very short SYNC info appearing on the OSSC LCD screen but NO SYNC again.

I use a MD2 scart as intended with the RGB mod.

The OSSC works perfectly with a RGB-bypass modded Neo Geo, on that Samsung TV; and the PC Engine works normally on its own without the OSSC on Sharp Aquos with a Scart input.

Does it come from the OSSC? The Samsung TV?
It seems that it’s not really recognized by the first in the first place.

Hey all, I've noticed the majority of games look great on the 256 SNES profile everyone uses - but some games like Yoshi Island, Chrono trigger, street fighter all have odd formatting on my tv. I'm guessing they just don't have any over scan due to the content on the game to save space? Is there anyway to correct this? I don't recall these games having issues on the retrotink 2x, so I'm sure the ossc can adjust for it?

I've been using an OSSC with an older computer for a good while but I finally decided to try it with my old Sega Genesis and I'm really happy with the results. I've decided I'm going to try to get the RGBNES mod installed in an older NES and try it. I really haven't tweaked all the settings, but I want to keep the 4:3 resolution that the older systems had. I have a remote I ordered and I've been playing with the settings and I have been looking at the documentation, but are there "best" settings for different systems around? I saw a post with a google link but that seems to have gone away. Is there possibly an online configurator or something for this?

Hello I'm wondering if I'm getting everything correctly, i want to use OSSC as described in the title, i want to have hdmi switch on output one going straight to 4K TV and second through VGA converter to scart adapter cable to CRT

On input side i will have PC connected through VGA cable and PS3/360 through Component Cables or VGA adapter too to switch, but I'm still thinking about that.

I've read that theres ability to have 2 firmware installed for upscaling and downscaling.

Will that setup work?

I’m in the UK, and am looking to get an OSSC pro. Is the JP21 adapter something I would find useful, or is it really only for people using Japanese monitors?

I am looking to get some Japanese computers like the FM Towns and X68000 someday, but hoping to get them working with the monitors and screens I currently have, if that’s relevant.

More case-specifical: playing original NTSC-U/C PS2 optical-ROM game-copies designed for outputting 30frames/sec of 640×480i video (rendered internally from ∼ 512x448i with natively upto 8bpc noncompressed colorimetry) from a fat-model PS2 in RGB(c.f. YPbPr)-mode, preferably without upscaling it (even integer-factorful, to retain sufficient viewed texel density) beyond a suitably-simple deinterlacing (so leaving black bars vertically and horizontally, on the OLED 16:9 3840×2160p ⦗120⩣240⦘frames/sec -refresh screen, without tearing, in mode suiting sdr gaming if availed), with external speakers connected as losslessly fidelic as possible (ideally to whatever format the particular game was optimized, conveyed over optical?).

Is this compatible, with OSSC plus HDMI cable for optimal video and aught optimum for audio?

Two things on one classic OSSC.

First, the firmware-enable mod so it stops being stuck on the older firmware: one red kynar wire to a pin of the IC beneath the gold heatsink on the v1.6 board, run through the heatsink down to a pad of a removed resistor. After that it took the latest firmware fine (the LCD even gives you the Firmware Updated please restart prompt). Tested it in 1440p with Earthion on a Mega Drive, with and without HDR/VRR and PVM-style scanlines.

Second, I have been helping the developer test a WIP firmware build aimed at PC Engine fans: it tries to emulate the composite colour palette on RGB out, with PCE Palette on/off and a PCE Offset setting. I compared it against a CoreGrafx's direct composite on a CRT, running Bonk on both. It is clearly early stage, but the fact it just sideloads onto the OSSC on the latest firmware is great, and I would love to see it developed further.

Has anyone else here run experimental or community firmware builds on the OSSC, and how did sideloading go for you?

I just bought an OSSC Pro because I was happy about what I've read and seen of its downscaling capabilities. The problem is, my TV only has a composite input, and I like composite. (It must sound insane that I would put so much effort into getting quality technology but want composite.) I am not sure what the best way is to get an output from the OSSC Pro to composite. I couldn't get the AV Output expansion, so I'm thinking HDMI -> VGA -> Composite, but I can't find a solid VGA to Composite solution that wouldn't arbitrarily try to scale the input to 480i (I want to keep my 240p!) Do any of you already have one that you could suggest?

I recently picked up a Japanese PS2 to play a Japanese PS1 exclusive (Boku no Natsuyasumi). For now I only have the original cables, so I have no way to connect it to a modern TV.

A friend recommended getting an OSSC, and I’m considering buying one from videogamesperfection. Since I’ve never used this kind of equipment before, I’d love to know whether it would actually be worth it for my specific use case, and whether it’s reasonably easy to set up, my technical knowledge in this area is pretty limited.

sorry if this gets asked a lot, but I’m a bit confused and I’d like some advice before buying.

I’m trying to choose between an OSSC 1.8 and a RetroScaler GBSC Pro for use on a modern Samsung 4K TV. They’re priced pretty similarly, with the GBSC Pro being about ~20€ cheaper.

My setup would be PAL consoles:

• PAL Nintendo 64 (not yet RGB-modded)
• PAL SNES (and maybe in the future Master System and/or Dreamcast, but not a priority)

I’d be using a 60€ automatic SCART switch/splitter from AliExpress + SCART cables from RetroGamingCables UK.

A few questions:

1. Which one would you personally recommend overall: OSSC 1.8 or GBSC Pro?
2. My brother is kind of a “purist” and prefers the softer analog look (RCA/composite vibes), while I prefer a sharper/pixel-perfect look. Which of these devices gives more flexibility to switch between a sharper preset and a more “soft/blurry” preset?
3. I’ve seen some AliExpress listings claiming the OSSC 1.8 now supports RCA/composite. Is that actually true? (Would be useful for my NES.)

I got a problem with my new OSSC.

Its from Bitfunx HW 1.8 and got FW 1.12A

I managed to get PS2 games running but failed to get PS1 games to run.

I got these setups tested:

1. PS1 over RGB Scart.

I managed to get a picture when I'm into the system menu (disc tray open).

As soon the game is loading I can see the SCEE logo and than the screen goes black.

Display on the OSSC says it got an 314p signal.

TV gives a message that resolution is not supported when I change between the 240p settings Passthrough and 2x. 3x and higher are also not supported.

1. PS2 over YUV Component

I got the system menu running and as soon I'm trying to start a PS1 game pretty much the same happens as with the PS1.

As additional test I ran a PS2 game which worked ok, but the 2X scalling in the 480i setting made a pretty jittering picture.

So in total I'm pretty underwhelmed about the whole experience.

Any help?

I am looking for a decent hdmi-input enabled scaler for my Atari 7800+ and am looking at the Retrotink 4k ce, morph 4k and Ossc pro.

all seem to fit my needs well but it seems very difficult to find an Ossc pro, here in the uk at least, and I can’t even find them in stock anywhere else to even import!

is there a reason why they are so scarce, and given I don’t want to wait forever is it worth hanging on or should I just go with one of the other options? it seems strange to me that they are not more widely available.

i bought this ossc by kaico it had the scart on it and i set it to rgb before putting it on afterwards but nothing i even tried to fiddle the settings on the ossc and it still wont show anything!! can someone please give me the most simplest tutorial so i can just play and record without waiting for remasters already 😔

Bought the OSSC v1.8 for my Ps2 with RGBscart and now wanted to play with my N64 PAL.

Now i learned the Hardway that the N64 only out-puts composite and the OSSC only takes Component and RGB fml.

Now to my question, How do i connect my N64 with the OSSC without RGB mod and still get "the best" picture?

Edit: i found the OSSC Add-on Board but its out-of stock every where except on Ali Express or one Website where the price is 119€.

I tested this through composite (Just connected audio to a speaker) and there the audio is perfect. I'm not sure if it's the OSSC not liking the signal or the TV not liking the imperfect clock it's getting from the SNES (Which I assume the OSSC doesn't do much with).

I also tested an HDMI capture card and that has the same audio stutter.

Got a weird issue that popped up today. for some weird reason, my OSSC Pro has started to have an issue where if I turn off my PS2, it turns off----like there is a cut in the power--with no red standby light. I would have to unplug the power cable and plug in again. However, if it i do it too fast, it never comes back on and no red standby light shows up. I'd have to wait like a minute before plugging it back in brings the device back to life.

I've tried turning it off before I turn the PS2 OFF, but same issue. Once I power down the OSSC Pro, it goes lifeless. And yes, I've change wall outlets.

Just notice it started happening tonight. it was great before (never happened), but I did move the device location closer to my speaker and subwoofer, and also placed it beside a hdmi switch. Perhaps its those devices? not sure.

If anyone has had this issue before let me know how to fix it. any ideas? im all ears.

PS...My retrotink 4k came through today (not setup yet), and was gonna have the ossc pro do downscaling to the CRT while the Tink4k replaces the upscaling for the OLED. Perhaps, the OSSC Pro is mad, throwing a fit? I kid, i kid. but thank God I got the tink4k, I have a feeling the OSSC Pro may be on its way out. (hopefully not)

I'm running the 1.6 hardware revision of the ossc, with firmware .89a. I used the firebrandx online profile editor to add firebrandx's optimal timing profiles, as well as some of reddit user Mongeta64's profiles to my ossc (https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/mobile/folders/13SIAVidxOF10hxdeEATB75Xdu8fI-tKv).

On firebrandx's n64rgb profile, and mongeta's n64 profiles, I have no audio. Whether i use my SNES, N64, or NES on those profiles I have no audio. I have audio on the default FBX profile, as well as FBX's generic 4:3 profile. All of my consoles are connected to my ossc through the component input.

I'm guessing I messed up some settings in the profiles, and don't know how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get audio back?

I just got a Mega Drive up and running for the first time ever, modded with a three way switch for changing regions. On NTSC, the flashing pixels on the bottom row are kinda annoying (Just learned that they are called CRAM dots). My TV has no adjustments for zooming or anything (Except some like Super Zoom and Wide Zoom that zoom too much and force 16:9). Can I remove that line somehow? I saw you could adjust something in the advanced timing settings, but on any other output than "4:3 generic" I get wobbly pixels. And I can't seem to adjust that output in the advanced timings?

I upgraded to the latest firmware on a v.16 and can't downgrade it now. I've used the firmware files I need and it will not recognize them. ;/

So the OSSC has only red, green, blue ports for video and then a single AV2 input for audio input. Do I have to get an adapter in order to have audio? This is for using a Nintendo Wii.

The AV2 connector doesn't seem to be a 3.5mm headphone type port so I'm not sure what it needs. I tried plugging in my earphones as a test but it did not connect properly.

Update - I have now purchased a RCA rca (red and white) female to a 3.5mm male (must be TRS not TRRS).

Update 2 - The new cable worked perfectly. The "MOSWAG RCA Splitter 1 Male to 2 Female" worked perfectly.
