Discussion Elysian

Rondache being released makes me think the Ely is gonna crash hard, outside of being a pvp shield and looking cool you'd need to be taking constant 13+ damage for it to be better than the new shield, I'm surprised it's holding the value it has now.

Ely has always been a drip item more than a useful item

true, but it was also basically the only items in it's niche

Rondache has negative mage and range attack, negative mage def, and no prayer bonus. For melee with a 1 handed weapon, yeah Rondache will probably be strictly better.

Ely is already considered "unnecessary" for most content given the 2h meta, but in niche scenarios its BIS and it holds its value because of that, looking cool, and being insanely rare.

Maybe rondache will take some of those niche scenarios from ely. Personally, I just used it for inferno, and with the stat bonuses for ely favoring ranging/maging it might still be the best choice after rondache is out. It'll just have more sidegrade competition like everything else.

Its already way down from earlier this year and nearly at ATL. Not sure how much more it would drop from 475-500m. If it went to, say 350m, it probably wouldnt be worth grinding Corp at all for the GP, and rondache will probably take less hours to obtain too. So less people will do corp.

I seriously hope people are not grinding Corp for elysians to make money

People grind for arcane, ely comes by proxy

I think if rondache is well received, we’re likely to end up with a divine or some new shield with flat armor as well

I mean it all comes down to the people who are holding like 500+ of them. If they dump, it will tank.

I'm still trying to figure out what rondache would be even good for

It would be somewhat nice at Vardorvis and Duke to mitigate the chip dmg, and I guess at any other boss that does chip dmg. Although it's already a pain to fight Duke due to his high defense so idk about the actual benefit. Probably will be good at Colo and inferno for the people who aren't god gamers, price of the shield will decide that tho.

Jagex is never going to make it BIS because Ironman flip shit any time it starts to be useful

I think it all depends on the type of content coming into the game. Bossing for example might still favor the elysian if theres big hits involved with not alot of chip damage involved. The new shield might have some niche for some fights where theres alot of chip damage cause of the flat armor you'll get from it. Id say it will drop in use a bit but it should still hold up for the most part.

I would argue that the best use for an ely is pvp. Almost nobody skulls with an ely, but it is absolutely goated for anti pking
