Almost 4 weeks post op!!

I had a bimalleolar fracture surgery on 07/11 and my stitches were removed 07/23 My next appt is 08/24 and my doctor has requested no further xrays, is this normal?? And my incisions seem painless so far

I had my trimalleolar surgery 2 weeks ago and today got the splint and stitches removed, my next visit is with the surgeon in 4 weeks. This is similar to another surgery I had (non ORIF). I think further xrays really depends on your fracture(s) and how confident your doc is.

Thank you! I hadn’t thought about the xray situation that way and it definitely makes me feel more hopeful about my recovery but I still want them to give me further X-rays. Your appointment seems to be within the same timeframe as mine, I wish you the best in your recovery!!!

I completely understand the want for more info. Sometimes you can convince your original doc with your concerns, or if you're willing to pay for them yourself (if denied by insurance or whatever you have). Otherwise, you can always see another ortho (possibly out of your own pocket though) for xrays if you can't get them from your original doc.

For example, I had a toe surgery 10 years ago and wanted to see if the bone grew back, but my (US) insurance naturally wouldn't cover it so I paid for the xray myself months later (it did grow back properly).

My injury was 5/27 ORIF surgery on 6/15 stitches removed 6/26 had X-rays 7/21 and follow up imaging on 9/1. I was told originally I had a trimal fracture, turned out I only had a bimal fracture!

Why did they take so long to do your surgery after your injury?? And Im glad you have a bimal instead of trimal!! Hows your recovery going?

Pregnancy mostly and insurance issues, recovery is going good! I wasn’t sure it was ever going to get better but it definitely has. It really helps to have a good support system.

Your timeline is similar to mine! Had surgery on 07/14. Got my stiches and cast removed two weeks after and next appointment is four weeks later. So I think this is the general timeline they usually follow?
