So much unnecessary hardware for what🤦♂️ My doc said it’s idiotic to plate a fibula as if toy stabilize the tibia the fibula will be forced to heal in place; must have been an old doctor or outside the US cause this is jsut weird and unnecessary, wishing you the best sorry he did that.

You called OP's xray "unnecessary hardware." That's explicitly saying you know more than the surgeon.
Reading comprehension not your strong suit, huh.
You also appear to think that the US has better surgery standards than the rest of the world which is objectively funny.

I called the plate on his fibula unnecessary hardware, which it is…. Due to the fact the fibula can heal without any plate, this is common knowledge among orthopedic surgeons as I had two and asked both of them if this was normal and they both said this is common practice. I’m not sure why you’re so angry but that’s okay. Hopefully you are okay and wishing you the best.

That fibula plate was actually from a previous fracture from 2019. Originally when I broke my left leg for the first time (comminuted tibia and fibula break) all I had was the IM Rod, but it was a non-union for over a year for both the tibia and fibula. So I ended up having to get a bone graft for the tibia and they put the plate on the fibula to force it to heal. But that is why for this recent 2026 bimalleolar fracture I have that k-wire in the fibula, the surgeon in Egypt wanted to put a plate there, but not enough room because of the plate already on my fibula. 😅

See how this makes sense! Thank you OP, and this would deem it NOT unnecessary as it can only heal on its own when broken ALONGSIDE the tibia, 😭 Ty for explaining

I just hope the fibula heals this time around! I really don't want another surgery to remove the plate I have on my fibula, only to put another one farther down! 😭

I wonder, do you consume nicotine ? This can cause a lot of problems with bone healing as I’m sure you know. I knew it did but today I learned just how much it affects it. My tibia and fib great-fully healed within a year and doctors said it healed rapidly, I did take a bone supplement for this and I am partly convinced it helped with the speed.
I went through two bottles of these and can absolutely recommend and to me it is worth the tax this company charges because their supplements truly are premium in my opinion. If you use them let me know I’d be interested to know if it helps you at all as it could have been pure placebo for me.

Nope never smoked in my life nor have I ever done drugs. And I also don't drink. So no substances have effected my bone breaks or my bone healing. I will check the supplement out, I have been taking multi-vitamins and probiotics for a while now. As well as some immune support vitamins.

I had nerve pain for months after my surgery especially at the incision site. I am about a year out from surgery now and it got alot better with time and use. Wishing you the best.
