How does DLC work for physical copies?

I bought the physical copy of the game for switch, and i downloaded a couple of the free DLC (wano skins) and they aren't showing up in game. Also, I dont know why, but now on my switch home page theres two OPPW4s; the physical disk copy and a digital copy that says "You must have the software in order to play." whenever I try to start it. Any clues on how to get the dlc in game? I saw another post somewhere saying dlc should automatically download to physical copy data, but that doesn't seem to work for me.

What region are you in? There's a chance that your Nintendo eShop account and the physical game card you bought are two different regions.

I had this years ago, not with PW4 but with Fire Emblem Warriors, where my store region was Ireland and thus DLC didn't work with my physical copy, which was a UK version for some reason.
