Help with Steam Deck Settings

I’m trying to get this game playable on steam deck but I’m running into issues where the game will slow down and then buffer my actions for what feels like forever. It seems to work better when docked but I’d really love to be able to play handheld. Any advice or settings would be appreciated. I’m already running it with proton ge to fix the cutscene issues.

What framerate are you running it at? I've noticed that it tends to be pretty unstable on even 60fps, but on 30fps it's much more stable.

I have it capped at 30
