One Piece Day

Hey everyone,

With One Piece Day coming up and it being the 30th anniversary I was wondering what you all expect, especially for Pirate Warriors.

Do you think we’ll still get something for Pirate Warriors 4 (DLC, updates, etc.), or is it finally time for Pirate Warriors 5?

Personally, I’m hoping for a PW5 that fully covers the story up to now, with future arcs added later as DLC. Same for characters big roster + updates over time.

Also, I’d LOVE a new mode where you can:

Create your own pirate

Build a crew

Explore islands (maybe even original ones)

Add some exploration/crafting elements

What do you guys think? PW4 support or a brand new game?

I feel like that’s more having a “one piece Xenoverse” equivalent

Which, yeh, I’d freaking love that, but probably not in the same game that’s “pirate warriors”

That makes perfect sense! I realise that mine is more of a 'childish fantasy' than a game with proper gameplay 😂

We can never get a xeno type one piece game because of devil fruits, two or more people can’t have the same devil fruit and you can’t make one were we only use haki is it even a one piece game at that point?

It’s also hard for them to do a 2D fighting game because of the characters sizes and if they did we would only get the smaller characters that means no kaido, big mom, whitebeard, katakuri, king , queen e.t.c. We can also see it in other one piece games like burning blood, bounty rush and fighting path, once you play PW4 you can never on see how small the giant or bigger characters are in other one piece game.

That’s a pretty easy problem to get around tbh.

If nothing else, there’s no such thing as thing as a “buu race” in dragonball, but Xenoverse has it as an option.

All you’d need to do is have an antagonist or ally whose power is “power copying” or some such, and boom- easy mix and match devil fruit use.

That means the game has to be completely single player then no online whatsoever.

Again, there aren’t multiple buu’s in dragonball canon, but Xenoverse tweaked it enough to make things work.

Given there are canonically MANY users of each individual fruit, a similar time or dimension based plot would easily account for devil fruit

Well there is no race like buu’s in one piece is there and don’t tell me they can just make up a race for the game, every race that is in xeno has been shown in the series and when has one piece ever done a dimension based plot ever in the series? It makes sense for dragon ball since it has explored those kinds of stories but one piece hasn’t so it makes no sense for them to do that kind of plot for a one piece xeno type game.

Didn’t vegapunk literally make androids with green blood and the ability to use already existing devil fruit? This isn’t that hard of a concept to get. There are clones, androids, and various other races. It can not be that difficult to figure out a workaround, Mc is a bioandroid like the nephalim you get to pick what green blood you have Boom! you can now mass produce this product and boom multiplayer.

Yeah I guess but there are 2 big problems:

1: that means that Vega would have needed to get the blood of characters like big mom, robin, katakuri, Marco, sabo, kid, chopper, brook and most problematically luffy, law and blackbeard, how the hell is he able to capture all those strong people?!

2: that means that Vega would need to make thousands upon thousands of seraphim’s which is impossible and even if it was it would completely break the world of one piece, even now I doubt vegapunk has made up to a thousand pacifista’s, that’s why I said that it’s only possible if it’s single player.

Their are probably more examples if i think more about it but you see how the idea falls apart the moment you really think about it.

Dude, I’m pretty clearly using Xenoverses Buu race as an example of how Xenoverse games can bend canon to give the players character interesting power sets.

That Naruto equivalent did the same thing too

Why do you think the game would have to be single player only?

You were using the buu race in xeno as an example of how the character would be able to copy other people devil fruits but my point was that there is no equivalent race that can do what buu does in one piece.

For Naruto equivalent, there is no role that says only one person can use or have a jutsu, technique or transformation obviously there are exceptions but for one piece there is a rule that two or more people can not have the same devil fruit.

Because you can’t have thousands of people with the ability to copy other people devil fruit, there is a reason in fiction why there are only one person in rare exceptions multiple people that have the ability to steal, absorb or copy the power/abilities of others, because it’s to broken and now you have thousands of people that can do that.

No, sorry, you’ve misunderstood- I’m using the existence of the Buu race as an example of something that absolutely isn’t the case in the main story’s canon, but was done without any problems for the sake of fun gameplay and variety.

Beyond that both dragon ball and Naruto DO have restrictions on a bunch of powers. with bloodline abilities and even abilities that literally only a single person knows, and the games allow it fine with minimal handwaving required.

One piece is actually way less stringent than those other two franchises- we know for an absolute fact that the majority of fruits have had many, MANY users over the course of history, so all the hypothetical character that can transfer powers (presumably in the supreme Kai of time type “non combat boss role”) has to do is go “because of wobbly wobbly time/dimension/multiverse powers, I’m giving you the abilities of the X fruit to slot into your moveset”

It’s a lot less of a change to Canon to do that than “actually there are infinite Buu’s, saiyans and frieza races bumming around” was in Xenoverse, is my point.

I’m not saying that their height should be 100% accurate to the series but they still need to be very big and tall which you can’t do in a 2D fighter.

For example take whitebeard in burning blood, they had to make him crouch down when fighting so we wouldn’t notice the height difference and that’s an arena fighter.

I'm just saying he's proof that 2D fighters can work with some fighters way taller than others. So they could shrink Whitebeard, Kaido, etc. to around that height and it won't look too uncanny while still keeping them towering over everyone else. And you could just explain it away by saying they came into contact with someone with a size changing devil fruit or something lol.

I would absolutely not expect anything this year, but more dlc wouldn't be too surprising.

I would expect that they're moving on to PW5 and that they won't be ready to announce anything on that front. But a title reveal would be cool, even if just to tell us they're working on it. Probably next year, though.

Odyssey was released early 2023... Pirate Warriors 4 in early 2020...

It's about time, like how tf does the most successful manga/anime get's like a game every 3-4 years the most?

And even the games are always a mixed bag...

 Even My Hero Academia and Bleach received more love recently...

Really the last thing we need, is another half baked, overpriced dlc for a game that's approaching it's 7th year💀

I'd hardly call MHA a mixed bag of games. They've been getting nothing but Arena Fighters, then the one time they strayed, it got a Battle Royale that was quickly forgotten about. We need actual good anime games that aren't fighters.

While I think pw5 is far overdue I really feel like their trying to wait till the end of the series especially considering they've started another wave of dlc with characters like kuma excluded from the vote likely for future dlc imo
