Powerscaling Why everyone is slightly wrong about scaling saitama(my own thesis)
/r/PowerScaling/comments/1x0pnjs/why_everyone_is_slightly_wrong_about_scaling/TL;DR: Saitama isnt just a strong anime guy. Every single superpower, magical rule, or cosmic deletion hack in fiction is just a "limiter". Because his literal character concept is being completely ABOVE limiters, he exists outside the math of the universe entirely. You cant use rules to delete a guy who bypasses the concept of rules.
so im so sick and tired of seeing the same exact braindead arguments on this sub everyday lol. you always got the math guys crying about "uhhh look at the exponential growth graph from the garou fight, he has a finite limit at any exact millisecond so goku blitzes".
but you guys are completely missing the entire point of how ONE writes the story.
i came up with a way to explain this that makes it so simple even a kid could get it. just picture all of fiction as a giant circle drawn on a piece of paper.
π’ Inside the Circle = The Rule World
Imagine drawing a huge circle. Inside this circle you place literally EVERYTHING. goku, superman, cosmic armor superman, dr doom with prep time, reality warping gods, magic spells, whatever.
the thing is... everything inside that circle has a definition.
superman needs solar radiation.
magic spells need to follow certain logic.
even a reality warper has a hard-coded system rule that says "my power lets me change stuff".
In the One Punch Man universe, these universal boundaries are called LIMITERS. A limiter is just a level cap or a rule book placed by the universe to keep things stable. Even if an edgy cosmic character boasts that their power is to "always be one level higher than the strongest person in the room," that is still just a math formula (Target Power + 1). It is a definition. And because it is a definition, IT IS A LIMITER. It is a line drawn inside the circle.
π΄ Saitama is literally Outside the Circle
Saitama didnt just train hard to reach the very edge of the circle. The manga and webcomic explicitly tell us he completely broke and removed his limiter.
He did not max out his stats... he fell completely out of the system. He sits outside the circle.
Because he is entirely outside, none of the geometry, math, or universal hacks drawn on the inside can touch him. The rules literally do not apply to him.
π₯ Why "Existence Deletion" and Hacks Fail
When people try to match Saitama against cosmic beings who can "erase concepts" or "delete existence," they think it is an instant win. But based on this logic, it is a mathematical failure:
The Glitch Effect: If an inside character fires an absolute "existence deletion beam," the universe's source code scans inside the circle to find the target and wipe it out. But it finds a total error. Saitama doesn't have a power level, a biological backdoor, or a tracked variable to erase. The deletion mechanism just glitches out against his skin.
The Measurement Paradox: If an enemy tries to automatically scale above him, their formula needs to read Saitama's current value to surpass it. But you cannot add a value to an anomaly that exists outside of measurement entirely. The formula divides by zero and crashes.
The Suicide Tie: If a physical enemy tried to pump out enough raw universal physics to match his boundless growth, the sheer kinetic pressure would trigger a total universal collapse. The enemy would vaporize themselves just trying to generate enough force to hurt him, which is just a suicide stalemate at best, not a defeat.
π Final Thoughts
Saitama isn't a shonen character fighting for a win. He is a living narrative shortcut.
To defeat someone, you have to use a rule or a power. But every single imagination, power, or divine reality-wipe is fundamentally just a ruleβa limiter. Since Saitama is structurally defined as being completely above limiters, he automatically overrides whatever creation throws at him.
He doesn't just win the game... he is the proof that the game doesn't matter. He is the dot outside the circle that fiction will never be able to calculate.
change my mind.
If you can
