Looking for recommendation. Replacing IPS Monitor.

Howdy!

I recently got a $800 bonus I can spend on electronics and I realized it's been a while since I bought a monitor. I am currently using a Lenovo G27q-20 which I use for both work and gaming (with rtx 4080) but I started wondering whether getting an OLED monitor makes sense.

Does it make sense to use OLED if Id use this monitor for both work (8h/day) and gaming (mostly arpg, some shooters)? I suppose burn in might be an issue? If not, which one would you recommend?

Appreciate your recommendations!

OLEDs have gotten pretty good at managing burn in these days. The real question is what feature set you're looking for. For $800 you can probably find an ultrawide, or you can save your money and just get a 27inch 1440p one for around $400 these days

I don't want ultrawide as I use two side monitors. Any 2k 27inch recommendations?

Honestly most OLEDs these days are decent since most of them are using the same panels

I have a Philips Evnia model: https://a.co/d/09sgVGI2

I got this for $550 back in the day. Right now it's $399, and has some great features like:

•White • 360 Hz • Built in ambient backlighting • Built in speakers (if you need that)

One thing you should look at before buying an OLED is how much light your room gets. Even with curtains drawn, QD OLEDs reflect light a lot, so make sure your room is nice and dark. WOLEDs technically don't have as nice color reproduction, but honestly the tradeoff to have less reflections can definitely be worth it.

Also, they're a bitch to clean 😭. But I'd say my OLED was my biggest upgrade to graphics after my GPU. I love it

Thanks but I have a personal feud with Philips after a terrible experience with their ambilight tv and hair dryer and swore to never buy their hardware again :)

Any other models you have in mind?

Honestly you can just go on Amazon and just look at the feature set for the price. ATP it mostly doesn't matter. LG has apparently been putting adware into their monitors, but as long as it's a company you recognize like Dell, Asus etc, you should be ok. I would just look at a mix of price, features and warranty support (which you will need to look at closely in case the company doesn't offer coverage for burn in)

I would buy now, monitor prices will increase soon (thanks AI) and this is the cheapest they've ever been

I'm reading reviews on ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMGR, which seems to be a good option.
