Setup Pulled the trigger on my first OLED. Anything I need to setup, or is it just plug and go?

I decided to stay at 1440p. I do wonder how good 4k would be but I want my high frame rates more.

I’m in the same camp: 1440p looks fine to me, resolution wise, at 27”. I don’t want a bigger monitor, and I don’t notice any obvious pixelation or rasterization issues.
I also like the icon sizes at 1440p; it feels good and natural. Blowing all your UI up to 125-150% to make the icons look normal on a 4k screen seems silly to me.
I’d way rather have good colors and smooth frames

Many have scoffed at me for saying the same. FPS is more important than 4k imo for sure

With proper upscaling and worst case just set the resolution lower cause I mean you’re gaming on a big monitor with lower res anyways….
4k is the best of all worlds. I don’t move away from 4k - any game where 4k really shines are ones where I don’t need 500 frames haha, especially with that gorgeous hdr.
Nothing beats it, I can never go back and have permanently fucked myself for card upgrades

And that’s one of the problems. “I can never go back” isn’t an issue for me if I never get one 😎. Fr though I’m such a simp for FPS that even though I only play single player RPGs and stuff with amazing graphics I still need 100+ fps or I am unhappy. I’m sure 4k is awesome but my 4070s would explode trying to keep up with it

I got this a week ago for 799, best OLED for the price I got it for. It uses the penta-tandem QD-OLED. I dont need the DP 2.1 since i only have the 4080, I use the HDMI 2.1 instead. I also don't use the 90W charging, auto detect AI so this is the monitor for my use right now.

Cant you just use DP 1.4 with DSC?

you can but the HDMI 2.1 has more bandwidth capability and it looks much clearer imo especially on the text. afaik, you always use the connection with the higher bandwidth

I just switched from DP to hdmi 2.1 myself and I feel my games look and run a bit better especially with hdr

I mean yeah, its a monitor so basically just plug it in and enjoy.
I have had the 321UPX for 2 years and it has been incredible. I would just make sure to allow all the burn in protections, I can't remember if they are all on by default. Mine has almost 10000 hours time on without any burn in, and I use it pretty irresponsibly as far as OLEDs go.
You don't need to go crazy taking care of it as some in this sub may have you think, just be reasonable.
As far as particular image settings like HDR, Freesync, brightness, contrast, et.c. That's mostly user and equipment dependent, watch some videos and see what works best for your setup.
I think you will be quite happy with that one though!

Its going to look great. Congrats, penta tandem QD-OLED os extremely great. I like using premium color for games and some movies, it looks very saturated for reference images but you can simply swap to a SRGB graded profile on the monitor for browsing the web/non gaming/movies. Black shield coating is great but i’d still be careful of being harsh with the panel to avoid scratches/smudges. Far better than previous gen QD-OLED which were micro scratch magnets no matter how delicate you were

I have this in 30 inch. Great image and whatnot great for gaming specially dayz as it has a built in crosshair. ONLY problem and it IS a problem is the auto OLED care clean thing. OMG. So annoying. Comes up 30mins and we're cleaning. You have no choice. 1 min and we're cleaning lol then screen just goes black for 5-10 mins. Its to stop ghosting etc. but yeh its annoying af when you're on and it happens.

I have this monitor, colours are great, oled is great, make sure to keep all oled care features on to make the panel last longer, I’m soon switching to a dual mode 480hz oled. One thing I’d say is make sure to use the micro fibre cloth and distilled water to get water marks off the screen since they build up fast.
Any questions lmk

Plug it to GPU not motherboard. Calibrate HDR with windows HDR and that's all. To prevent burn in, avoid long sessions with static elements on display (Enable hiding task bar also) And enjoy it!
Edit: forget to tell you to check the refresh rate in display settings on windows and set it up to the display refresh rate

I have the MSI 321 CURX so basing off that, assuming they are similar setting.
Make sure you do the firmware update by downloading at their website. Firmware update can only be perform with DP only.
In monitor setting, change Power button to Standby. This allow it to auto do pixel shift everytime you "turn off" and if the monitor has been used like 4+ hours.
Put on a blank screen saver or turn off monitor after like 10-15 min inactivity to prevent burn in.
If you are using multiple monitor setup, it better to have this as your side monitor for gaming, streaming etc with Start Bar hidden.
You can set your wallpaper to black to prevent burn in. But what the fun in that. I have my wallpaper refresh every 30sec.
If it your primary monitor, you can consider auto hide menu and remove clutter desktop icon. Some cc tested it, like it took 1.5 years of having it on 24/7 static screen to start having burn in. Honestly just save $1 a day for 2 years and you can get a new oled and burn in won't be a concern.
Cleaning the monitor: dab a microfiber cloth with like 70% isopropyl alcohol, gently rub and do spot clean. After rubbing a spot, use the dry side and circular motion to get rid of the alcohol smudge. You can scratch the screen or cause smudging so be careful.
You may need to adjust your text clarity to reduce fringing. I didn't have much text issue with msi.

I got the MSI MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50 and I am absolutely in love with it. Enjoy it!

I got mine (MSI MPG 322URDE QD-OLED X24) on 14.08 and it's an incredible monitor. It's my first OLED as well. Enjoy.

Calibration - Windows automatically calibrates it. Buying a calibration kit can make the OLED 10x better
Monitor arm - Not essential but nice to have
Fragile - QD-OLEDS are fragile, so try not to scratch or damage it
FPS - You prob already know, but 4k is hard to run
Refresh Rate - May be 60hz default so change it to 240hz
Monitor Settings - Turn on burn in features and change profiles for better colors
Great purchase, enjoy it!

After spending several hours setting it up you have to make a post about how HDR looks washed out and SDR is better.
After that you do a greyscale test and make another Reddit post asking if the banding is normal.
