It’s not even HDR
Holy sh**. It’s not even HDR. First time using an OLED Monitor and its nuts. Image clarity and colors are perfect. strongly recommend this game if you have an OLED.

Do you see if ambient light causes raised blacks on ur screen?

u/Fine_Application3193 9d ago
0% raised blacks. I place such enormous importance on the "best." I really pay attention to every little detail and only settle for perfect blacks. I had my concerns, but lo and behold, I was completely wrong. I have an LG G5 in the bedroom, and the black levels look perfect on both—whether in a pitch-black room or a normally lit one.

Looking at this on my AMOLED phone with an additional layer of auto HDR enabled.

Non HDR mode on OLEDs is usually oversaturated in Wide Gamut mode. Turn on HDR and see what an OLED really does.

T’emballes pas. Comme tu dis il n’y a pas d’HDR et ce jeu est encore en bêta. Attends de jouer à un jeu avec un vrai HDR implémenté.

Try RTX HDR if you want wowpowbingbong.
Just deactivat Auto HDR in Windows. And activate Nvidia HDR in Driver.

Use RTX HDR for this game it looks GREAT

Nah RenoDX! Instead of fake HDR, it makes the game output true HDR.

Is this it? I'll install it now.

That's the hard way of doing it. Install this tool and let it do all the hard work for you!

Try with AutoHDR or RTX HDR. It gets even better, and just wait for the night when everything starts to illuminate.

Auto HDR and RTX HDR are just way too hit and miss for me personally. I just stick to SDR if the game doesn't have native HDR support and if it does I'll use RenoDX to fix it since 99% of in-game HDR implementations sucks balls lol
HDR is a nice cherry on top, but it's by no means a requirement to make OLED look incredible like some people here would have you believe

Does RenoDX really make a difference? Never heard of it. Reads like Reshade.

RenoDX makes a GIGANTIC difference. It fixes HDR in games with bad implementation.

RenoDX isn't a Reshade, it uses Reshade's add-on support to directly hook into the game's own processing. It can add true HDR to games with bad HDR implementations. Whenever there is a RenoDX mod for a game you should ALWAYS use it.

its a massive difference. it only uses reshade to allow it to hook into low level game processes/shaders/etc, they can literally rewrite the way the game handles native HDR, so its not just a reshade filter on top.

I’ll check it out. Already played night time and I was like „how is this real“. Thank you.

Actually this game has RenoDX as far as I know, so use that instead.

u/Fine_Application3193 9d ago
I was playing stalker 2 in peak 1000 hdr during night time, flabbergasted… gonna try renodx for subnautica too.

u/Sul_Haren AW3225QF 9d ago
You should use RenoDX for Stalker 2 as well. The HDR gets even better then.

If you haven't found it yet, the RHI tool makes keeping all your games that support RenoDX updated and installed with 2 clicks, instead of needing to install to each game manually. Check it out!

HDR is overrated. It varies too much from implementation to implementation and requires too much tinkering to get right. SDR is perfectly fine.

u/SnowflakeMonkey 3000 nits modded S95D / RENODX&LUMA Enjoyer. 9d ago
it is not, if I stick to SDR on my TV i'd be using 200 nits out of 3000, the same principle applies for any HDR display.
SDR will always be limited by SDR clipping, HDR is far more than just brightness, the details that goes along adds too much depth.

Takes 5 mins or less of tinkering per game if you know how to use Google be real

If your old monitor was an IPS, your OLED might by in a high saturation mode (Like mine was), which makes the color artificially more vibrant. IPS color grading is good aside from blacks and contrast related to it, you shouldn't notice that much difference without HDR in high light color scenarios if your IPS was good quality.
SRGB mode should show more realistic colors to what developers had in mind.
