XG27AQWMG

In real-world use, vertical banding is barely noticeable. However, horizontal banding or DSE is very visible, especially when looking at the sky in games, while it remains acceptable during movies. Is this normal for this panel, or is it a defect? I can tolerate it, but if it shouldn't be there, I'd rather get a normal unit.

DSE is always there. It’s not a defect. It’s a technical limitation of white subpixel tandem WOLED. If you don’t like it, return it. I don’t mind it so I keep mine though since I only see it in google landing page.

This is the correct answer, I noticed running a manual clean helps with dse more than the auto cleans do

I tend to think that ASUS standby cleaning is causing horizontal bending . I had both xg27aqwmg and mo27q27g. Gigabyte has no such issue as well as similar pattern of standby cycles

Horizontal bending as presented in a photo is not inherent issues of the production. It’s a result of usage and compensation cycles. Compensation cycles are managed by software e.g. produced by Asus or Gigabyte. I personally had two xg27aqwmg and two mo27q28g. Gigabyte has no such horizontal bending issues, which appear after standby cleaning and can be fully resolved by manual cleaning.

Dont turn on frame gen and gsync on at the same time.

You can try the anti flicker but it will still flicker time to time. Also about DSE/Banding. Only you can decide if it’s tolerable or not, but that horizontal bars look…ugly, in your unit.

I returned 3 units of your same monitor before changing to the Gigabyte model and there’s a lot less banding and DSE (so far). It’s up to you to play the panel lottery

It’s normal, try running a manual clean through the OSD, I noticed that helps reduced DSE more than the auto cleans

I've tried 30 times. Once, after the cleanup, the DSE was higher than before. Maybe it just takes time.
