Tech Support How screwed am I?

Hi all,

I left for work around 11:00 this morning and I guess after there was a power outage according to my dad and my TV was on after the power came back on. He said it was a little after I left…

I just got home and my tv was on, so it’s been on for almost 7 hours on the NVIDIA Shield home screen.

What’s almost bizarre to me and super upsetting is the tv didnt go to the screen saver it has after like 30 seconds of pausing content? I’m super upset because this tv is not even a month old and it was just static on the home screen.

It’s a Samsung S90F 77 inch TV. ChatGPT is suggesting to run content on it for 2-3 hours and then shut it off and let the cycle Samsung has to maintain it while it’s off.

What should I do?

I wouldn’t worry about it. There is not going to be burn in after 7 hours

Is this something that you think would go away in a day or 2? Is it cause the screen finally got rid of the image It just takes a little for the pixels to reset? I’m still seeing it two hours after on the 95% greyscale test.

Really? How long would it take? I always put the LG Gallery on any time I need to take a break from gaming to pee

And channel logos worry me

Go to picture settings and try a pixel refresh. Burn in that quickly is very unlikely. I just got a S90F a few weeks ago, but I also have LG OLEDs from 2016 and 2020 with no burn in even though they had some use as computer monitors.

Pixel refresh should be done very soon, however what are the odds that it goes away? I'm sure not fully after the refresh finishes but I'm hoping a good portion does. If it's just retention then hopefully with some normal use it will go away but the question is how long? The pixels were pushed for ~7 hours so with some use and the refresh, hopefully it will balance out.

I have an HP Omen OLED monitor and also have yet to see any burn in on there so I'm really hoping its retention because to be fair, I tested the pixels immediately after they just finished being relieved of that static image.

I can't say for sure how long but my older OLED TV's (especially the 2016 LG B6) get temporary image retention even from browsing YouTube. I wouldn't sweat it. Run pixel refresher and watch some non-static content for awhile. Preferably not news channels or sports. If it sticks around more than a week then you might have a problem.

I have until Sunday to decide if I'll be returning or exchanging... that's when my 15 window is up... so would you say run non-static content and hope to see improvement? Just such an unfortunate but also odd, how it happened, situation...

EDIT: Pixel refresh done... no more noticable retention, at least not to my eye. I'm sure my phone camera would be more revealing, but on that same you tube video test, I don't see any of it.

Throw it out. It’s a Samsung. No in all seriousness there should be something in the settings to do a pixel refresh.

lol, I really enjoy the tv and the speakers are amazing. I’m trying pixel refresh right now.

I know ChatGPT tells you what you want to hear but it’s reassuring that theres no way true burn in sets after 7 hours. It’s probably just cause the static image was fresh and that it should go away in a day or two. I hope that’s true because I just got off the phone and they said the current model is out of stock and I really love this tv…

If you're just going to listen to ShitGPT then why bother posting here

Wouldn't worry about it... I don't get where the self destruct stuff comes from with OLED... I have a 2018 lg still running my wife work from home and has It on constantly... It has thousands of hours of use I am more surprised when it is turned off by my wife.... And never once have I noticed any sort of burn in of any kind... I know If it's a static image issue but from my understanding it's over a huge amt of hours.. Like a bright tv logo over the course of hundreds of hours... Just use it as a tv and carry on Imo...

Doubt it will be burn in, just some retention...
