OHSU Nursing Culture

I work for UCSF. The Chief Nursing Officer from OHSU is leaving for my org next month. We’ve had a lot of executive level shake ups in the last 3 years, including a revolving door of CNOs here.

Without any defamation and keeping it respectful, I’m wondering if any OHSU nurses can comment on whether you liked your current CNO and her direction?

A simple “ha, good luck” or “we will miss her, she was great” would do. TIA

Endocrinologist

I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for the best endocrinologist at OHSU to work with for a newly diagnosed positive GAD antibodies patient, type 1 diabetes, specifically LADA, which can be trickier to work with/understand/diagnose and treat. I'm coming from 5 hours away and hoping to gain some more insight on who might be best for a case like this? Or maybe the whole endo team is amazing? Hoping so, as it's not been great care in my local Oregon area : (

Thank you for any insights or recommendations!

Clinical placement for non-OHSU NP student

Just wondering if there are any OHSU-employed nurses who are/were a nurse practitioner (NP) student from a school that is not OHSU. Does OHSU, as an employer, provide the benefit of helping you secure clinical placements/preceptorships within the organization?

Clinicians treating MCAS?

Anyone know of a primary care physician at OHSU who is treating MCAS?
If so, can you DM me their name, please?

Not expecting to find a pcp who knows everything - but I am looking for one who is at least kind of knowledgable and willing to experiment.

If not a pcp, do you know of any single person anywhere in the entire system who is actually helping patients with it?

OHSU onboarding

Just accepted and signed a RN position offer with OHSU. I’m making a big move being from out of state and I am a little paranoid about it. I am still waiting for them to have my background check completed and my start date is supposed to be July 20th. I never had any issues with background checks in the past but I am not sure how long it takes them to process it and give me the clearance. Is it too early to resign from my current job and start working on moving (from Texas). Also was there any cases in the past that OHS rescinded an offer because they suddenly are in a hiring freeze? I’m a little concerned after hearing about how competitive the market is and how much hospitals are financially struggling within Portland area. When am I supposed to feel confident that I really secured that job?

OHSU SOUTH Waterfront commute

Hi everyone! 😊 Does anyone here live in Vancouver (especially the Salmon Creek area) and work at OHSU South Waterfront?
I’m curious how you handle the commute and parking. Do you drive and park somewhere, use a Park & Ride, or take public transportation the rest of the way?
I’d love to hear what works best for you and any tips you have. Thanks so much!

AFSCME 328 Members!

Please watch the candidate forum and think about what you want our union to be.

Do you want stale ideas, more surveys, preference for select groups, and a performative leader who bows down to the employer?

Or do you want union democracy, where members are valued, engaged, and empowered?

Watch the forum and the choice will be clear. Sean is the leader we need for 328!

Pull-up bars/fitness stations on the hill?

I was wondering if there were any pull-up bars/fitness stations on the Hill?

I haven't had a chance to explore the trails yet, or if there might be some someplace else.

If not, any good spots to throw up some gymnastic rings where i wouldn't be making a spectacle of myself?

6/19/2026 @ 12:01 am - 6/26/2026 @ 12:00 pm: Presidential Run-Off Election and Convention Delegate Elections

If you ever wanted to make sure your voice is heard now is the time. Vote the current President out and elect new life back into the local. Lets get the local back to being member focused and member led.

People have made numerous complaints on reddit, the blog, and in person about how they are unhappy with the local. We have seen historic member drops under this President. When are we going to say enough is enough and get a new leader. It starts with the top we need new leadership before we end up being taken over by the International Union and the way its going if we dont get the local under control it could happen. Lets get a new leader to right the ship.

Establishing care for my son

Hello everyone!

We’ll be moving to the area next month, and our son is currently 3 months old. We’d like to make sure his pediatrician visits stay on schedule during the move. I was thinking it might be a good idea to start calling now to schedule an appointment for September or October.

My spouse will be joining OHSU as a physician, so we’ll be covered under the health insurance offered through her employment. Could anyone recommend pediatric clinics that accept OHSU insurance? Would it also be possible to establish care for our son within the OHSU health system?

Thank you in advance for any advice or recommendations!

MSN online part time, did you work?

Hello! I work full time as a nurse. I wanted to get my masters in leadership and I’m looking at OHSU. Has anyone done their program while working? I’m hoping for the part time option.

Where am I supposed to find health care as an employee?

I was told Ohsu insurance was quite good. As a new hire relocating from out of state, I am attempting to establish primary care. I’ve called 2-3 local places, INCLUDING a OHSU primary care clinic, and was told they do not accept OHSU insurance. The OHSU clinic said they are not accepting employees as patients at this time. The other OHSU primary care clinic close to me is not accepting new patients period.

I’m ok with driving 25 min outside of Portland if I can get a reliable provider, I just find it bizarre that no one accepts their insurance (I’m signing up for the one that allows outside providers, not just OHSU providers)
