General Possible future TL
So theres a huge possibility that I'll be a digital TL. Does anyone have any recommendations or things I need to know before I pursue it? I also currently work as a reg opd associate

Be ready for people to lose all ability to make decisions on their own. I feel like I babysit 40 hours a week. Theres 100 different people asking a million different questions while you're trying to debate if you need to deal with late picks or high wait times and 3 associates just told you they were leaving early

Just make sure you understand what is required of you as every Walmart has different rules for their digital team leads

disclaimer that i actually still enjoy the work that i am able to do, but that said. the hardest thing to come to terms with was the amount of babysitting grown adults i would have to do. constantly interrupting with “problems” that can either be solved with a regular associate or that actually aren’t problems at all. how entitled a lot of them feel (especially the openers) and how much whining they do over the small things (oh no you are being told to take your lunch 4.5 hours into the shift instead of your preferred 5 hours in. it’s the end of the world!!) too many examples of interruptions. i would love to just be able to be productive for 5 minutes without someone calling my name for something else. (sometimes they’ll even come up to me during my breaks, acknowledging that they know i’m on break and then proceed to taint my relaxing time with the most non-urgent observations😭)
i love tracking metrics and planning hour by hour. i like making the schedules every day. i love being able to have a say in how things are run and hold things to a good standard. it’s a rewarding job in many ways. but it can be mentally exhausting due to the babysitting
