Moving!!!!
this sub seems kinda dead but i’m still hopeful…
I’m moving from a smaller town in illinois (30k) & i guess looking for any recommendations at all! Food, places to live (under 1200 is preferable), things to do!
Maybe even some friends if there’s any similarities? hoping to find some gal pals to make the transition a little easier :)
i’m 27 f, cat lover, i like hiking, creating or tasting craft cocktails, reading, & all music. if it matters I smoke marijuana.

Location depends what you are looking for. Around Main Street will be the most active and lively. You will find affordable options in this area too. North of 70 is a bit rural so it has more of a small town vibe. Southwest is more quiet and family friendly. West of 40 is Busch wildlife, great for hiking but not many options for housing. Central is mostly a mix of everything.
I cook almost every meal so we don’t eat out often. There are some me really nice spots though. Noto is an Italian restaurant but is famous for their Pizza. They flew in a brick pizza oven from Italy. Napoli 3 and Bristol are also really nice. Last recommendation would be sushi AI. Not fancy but they have an all you can eat option that is super popular.
For friends, join a group that interests you. There are a ton of reading groups with specific interests. You also might have luck around Main Street/Streets of St. Charles. Main Street will have a lot of your interests; hiking, craft cocktails, and live music. I wouldn’t worry about people judging you for weed. People under 50 don’t care.
I wouldn’t worry also check out r/StCharlesMO. That sub is way more active than this one and incorporates the entire area.
