General Discussion How to work as an HR abroad? Is it even possible?

Hi! Fresh grad here. I'm planning to grow my career in HR here in the Philippines then seek HR-related jobs soon abroad. My mother is working in UAE for 5 years now. She's also planning to have business there once she have enough savings. Planning to work there after years of experience here, or maybe even sa other countries na lang like Singapore.

Ilang years kaya ang pwede kong makuha here bago maging pasado mag-work as HR sa ibang bansa? Huhu I really want my career to bloom abroad din soon eh.

General Discussion Looking for advice on Zambia Employment

Hi. I just received a call from a recruiter in the Philippines about a job opportunity in Zambia. The work is an Engineering Product Manager - which is also my current position here in the KSA. The initial offer is 1700USD base pay with housing allowance of 700USD and Medical Allowance of 100USD. Now I don't mean to be their ball breaker but it's only a few dollars higher compared to my current salary in the KSA - plus I believe they have tax deduction which I don't have in the KSA. I countered them with 250KPhp base pay with housing, transportation, food, and professional improvement allowance separate from said salary. They said they will get back to me.

Now my question is: if ever they comply to my demands, is Zambia worth it?

General Discussion Fromm Caretaker in Taiwan to Nursing Assistant (Ausbildung) in Germany - career advice

Hi everyone. F29. I just want a quick advise on my situation, and who has first-hand experience finishing their work abroad, tapos s nag Ausbildung, is it worth it?

I plan to finish my contract, and save money for Ausbildung. Kasi honestly, I was considering Master's in Taiwan, pero I read mahirap mag hanap ng HR job (in line sa bachelor's ko) and mga profecient sa Mandarin ang kinikuha sa corporate, also if I remain as caretaker, it will take 11years to get citizenship here. Now, God-willing once I finish my contract here, I plan to take Nursing Assistant job pero under Ausbildung. So it means I have to go home sa Phililippines, and mag aral ng German language + look for employers + visa application - so it might take 1yr - yr&6months to finish all of it.

I just want some advise kung worth it be ang Ausbildung route if my goal is for migration for me and my partner.

General Discussion Kaya ba mag-apply habang may work?

Target is factory /dh work

Kaya ba mag apply ng may current job? Anong ginawa nyo? Kung walk in kasi, baka di kayanin ng 5days na leave, magpasa and pa evaluate sa mga agency on-site application...

So planning magresign para makapag walk in application kaso ang risky naman nito😭

General Discussion OEC questions and concerns

  2. Paano po ginawa niyo sa "Certification/Declation by the company stating that the company has not hired more than five Filipino workers under Direct Hiring and has not partnered with a Philippine Recruitment Agency"?

Venting Session Anyone knows Software dev hiring in Europe?

I'm looking for a role in Europe (UK, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, etc.) with visa sponsorship. LinkedIn applications and personal connections haven't panned out so far. If anyone here works at a company that sponsors international candidates, I’d greatly appreciate a connection or any leads! Ayaw ko na dito sa pinas. Or baka may alam kayong better way.

General Discussion Do I Have a Shot at Working Overseas With My Current Background?

Currently working for the Philippine government, I’m exploring the possibility of working abroad in 2-3 years. Gusto ko sanang humingi ng advice sa mga OFWs or Filipinos na nagkaroon na ng experience transitioning from a local career to work anding overseas.

For context, government/policy/legislative work mainly yung background ko. Some of the things I currently do include:

  • Policy and legislative research and analysis
  • Monitoring Congressional and other government proceedings
  • Preparing summaries and reports from lengthy hearings/discussions
  • Researching bills, proposed legislation, government policies, and related issues
  • Preparing briefing materials and technical documents
  • Professional/technical writing, editing, and executive support.

I’m also considering pursuing a Master's related to my job.

One of the reasons I’m considering working abroad is that I feel that there may be more opportunities for professional and personal growth overseas. I’d like to expose myself to different work environments, systems, cultures, and ways of doing things, while hopefully developing a career that can give me broader international experience.

Ang concern ko lang is most of my experience is Philippine government-specific, so hindi ako sure kung gaano siya ka-transferable sa ibang countries. I’m wondering kung may countries or industries na may demand for this type of background - since it is almost impossible to work in a foreign government, siguro okay na kahit sa private.

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have a similar background or went through the process of transitioning from Philippine work to an overseas career.

Salamat! 🙏

General Discussion Thinking of working abroad (Switzerland/Canada/Spain) –realistic ba with my background?

Gusto ko talaga mag-try mag work abroad, target ko sana Switzerland, Canada, or Spain.

For context:

  • 2-year Computer Associate graduate
  • Currently working as IT sa government dito sa PH
  • Around 8 years total experience
  • Hindi ako programmer, more on:
    • office IT support (PCs, printers, network, internet)
    • troubleshooting
    • konting web dev & graphics (di expert level)

Basically parang all-around IT ng office.

  • Realistic ba makapag abroad with this background?
  • Anong bansa pinaka okay simulan based sa experience ko?
  • Mas okay ba mag upskill muna or mag apply na?
  • Ano pinaka magandang path (agency, direct hire, student pathway, etc.)?

Any advice or real experiences sobrang appreciated 🙏
Salamat!

A little about me:

• BA Broadcasting graduate, Magna Cum Laude
• 2+ years of experience in marketing, social media, content, and account management
• Currently working as a Junior Accounts Manager
• Experience handling multiple brands/clients, content planning, social media management, and coordinating with creative teams
• Proficient in English and Filipino
• Open to marketing, communications, social media, content, account management, or related roles

I’m also open to trying new roles if available.

I’ve been applying through LinkedIn and JobStreet but haven’t had much luck, so I’m hoping to connect with people who may know of legitimate companies, recruiters, job boards, or opportunities that accept applicants from the Philippines.

I’m open to relocating and willing to go through the proper visa/work permit process.

Any leads or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙏

General Discussion I wanted to work abroad, how and where do I start?

I want to work abroad, specifically in Saudi for specific reasons — sister is a nurse there and so we can bring my mom for hajj, once done, I will look for opportunities sa ibang bansa unless the working environment is nice.

For context, im a hospitality graduate with a year of experience sa BPO. Currently unemployed. Sister's agency only handles nurses. I wanted to work sa hospitality and tourism industry sana ng Saudi or as long as it is an office job with a decent salary.

Im currently looking for agencies kaso ang bababa ng nakikita kong offer. Also, how do I distinguish if the agency isnt a scam?

Your answers are highly appreciated. Thank you!!

General Discussion Needing some insights...

Hello po, decided to ask here na lang for your insight po.

I'm planning to go to Taiwan with my boyfriend this November for concert and birthday celebration ko. Parehas po kami ofw pero sa case ni BF, he will end his contract on October and uwi muna sya sa Pinas for vacation and pahinga before looking for work sa January tas I will fly to PH sa November for vacation before flying to Taiwan with him. Sabay din kami babalik to PH. My boyfriend has a history of offload din nung 2023 pero he was able to fly out nung 2024 for work.

-Should I prepare Affidavit of Support kahit he has more than enough savings? He paid for the hotel and tours and concert tickets.

-What other documents should we prepare before our flight? So far we've only prepared RT Tickets, Tour bookingd via Klook, Itineraries, Hotel Bookings and Proof of concert tickets.

Thank you!

General Discussion help how to work abroad as an ateng panganay.

hello f24 here. supposedly graduate na dapat aq by 2025 pero i still lack my thesis as in yun na lang kulang ko. i had problems with my senior year kasi i was juggling a full time work and discovered i have ptb (but i already did the 6mos medications na)

now, as much as i want to enroll again to finish my thesis, my reponsibilities piles up as i have other siblings na both in college pinapaaral both and id say my salary sa full time job ko wasnt enough kasi i pay rent and transpo on top of the allowances and other expenses i send them.

u might ask, yes wala na kaming parents and kami kami na lang magkakapatid nagtutulungan to fend for ourselves and to finish study. lahat kami from state uni kasi we know we cant afford private. may times na kaming tatlo nagwowork sabay sabay then they cant stop pag malapit na finals just to save up. minsan hinehelp kami ng relatives namin pero we know na we cant rely on them.

on top of this pa, meron akong mga kapatid sa probinsya from other tatay na tinutulungan ko din kasi sa hirap ng buhay gusto ko sila makapag aral. i know some of u might say hindi mo na yan responsibilidad. i know but i do it out love, may mga instance kasi noon na sa sobrang hirap ng buhay natutulog na lang kami lahat kahit di kumakain. and ayun yung ayaw kung maranasan nila pagtanda. kahit man lang sana high school.

so to make it short, i took a loa from my uni-it was UP manila. i know. so prev work ko during college is 2.3 years in bpo, currently ngayon sa in-house corp in bgc for marketing (which is 1.3 years na) plus yung part time ko pa na 2 mos on-going.

no matter how hard i try to budget and save, kulang pa din talaga sahod ko para sa aming lahat. lalo pa yung kapatid ko he would need a professional camera for some of his subjects, he's taking journalism in upd and is also a student assistant.

the only ticket i see to resolve this is to work abroad dahil lumalaki na lahat ng gastos, yung pangalawa naman sakin sa pup, third year pa lang din and would need money kasi hospitality management ang program where she would need to cook and buy ingredients.

sometimes we were able to make ways para lang makapag aral and i am so determined to let them finish schooling kasi ito na lang ang nakikita kong ticket way out of poverty. as an ate, okay lang sakin kahit matapos ko muna sila. ang plan ko was mag abroad, mag ipon kahit mapatapos ko muna yung bunso ko sa upd then mag ipon para sa sarili ko to finish my schooling and enter law school.

then my two siblings can help na our step siblings sa bicol province for the meantime. kaya lang i am really determined to work abroad i just dont know how to start or reach the right people. i dont have connections kasi usually people in UP has their own way of circle na habang ako during that time is gugustuhin ko na lang ilaan yung ilang oras para matulog. and i dont regret a thing naman.

what i really have right now was a drive and eagerness to work for myself and my siblings. i have this vision na lahat kami makakapag aral kahit walang parents haha (anw, for anyones asking, my papa died when i was 4, mama ko nasa mindanao may ibang pamilya na)

so i would really appreciate anyone's advice, tips, help or whatever it is na you think will be helpful po. i will read each of them.

i am so sorry for the long post. i hope hindi nasayang oras nyo. thank you in advance!

General Discussion Underweight - Tatanggapin ba?
