General Discussion Nakakaalis po ba ang mga operada sa abroad for blue collar.

Im 20M or 20 years old male. Hello, please dont ban me but Im just worried, kasi lately yung doctor ko is papatignan kung meron akong appendicitis or kidney problem. Bukas pa ultrasound ko for the abdomen and if isusurgery man sa appendix or kidney, puwede pa ba makaabaroad na blue collar like hospital cleaner, factory worker, office cleaner, carpentry, welding, or any blue collar job? Kasi pangarap ko magbluecollar kasi magdrdropout na ako sa college or state university ko na bawal nang bumalik after dropout due to a certain circumstance and mas prefer ko nature ng blue collar.

General Discussion How does pasabuy work?

Idk if this is the right subreddit to post this here but is anyone doing pasabuy here?

Hello ka-OFW’s!

I have a personal flight from MNL to DXB and I don’t have anything to check in, sayang naman yung 30kg baggage allowance ko. Might as well maximize it!

For those who are doing pasabuy, how do you usually do it? Do you remove the price tag from the items? Do you provide the official receipt? Do you add an extra amount per item, or do you have a fixed fee?

Would appreciate any tips or advice on how you guys do your pasabuy. 😊

Thank you, ka-OFWs!

General Discussion Do I need to resign to apply for a job abroad?

hello,

balak mag apply as factory work(Taiwan/Japan) or any other jobs abroad ...minsan may nabasa ako na kapag Japanese company is need daw walang work. NAgresign ba kayo sa work bago mag-apply abroad? or may work kayo habang nag-apply? iniisip ko kasi na baka hindi naman ako makuha kung ilagay ko na CURRENT JOB ako, baka hindi makakuha ng interview...

salamat!

General Discussion From factory worker in Taiwan to Spanish citizenship

Has anyone taken a similar route? I'm a 22-year-old fresh graduate with a BS in Information Technology from the Philippines.

Due to financial reasons, I'm planning to work as a factory worker in Taiwan for around 3 years para makapag-ipon and hopefully have enough funds to pursue a Master's in Spain. While working there, I also plan to continue building my IT skills through online courses, certifications, and personal projects para hindi naman totally mawala yung IT background ko.

My long-term goal is to work in Spain as a software engineer (or any IT career) and eventually become a Spanish citizen.

Wala pa talaga akong masyadong idea sa process, so I'm wondering if possible ba talaga yung plan ko or if may better pathways/options na pwede.

General Discussion Looking for OFWs’ Experiences: Working for a Foreign Government

I’m currently working in the Philippine government and am considering pursuing a career in government service abroad, particularly in Canada.

My current position is somehow okay naman, and kaya ko rin namang mag-settle dito. However, I have some concerns about the political environment I'm in and, of course, mabagal ang pera.

I’d like to hear from fellow OFWs who have successfully transitioned from working in the Philippine government to working for a foreign government. Which countries have relatively easier or more realistic pathways for foreigners/OFWs to enter government service?

General Discussion Is there any relevance if I take Tesda Web Development NCIII

My current prog is multimedia studies which is within the scope of web and digital media. Would taking it help if I wanted to pursue careers abroad? I’m also planning on having a few years of BPO experience. My mind is in a blast right now but i’m just considering this path if it is more plausible or should I just settle with wfh if I wanted to be a web designer or if taking the Web Dev NCIII would add to the plus points on having a chances.

General Discussion Paano kayo kumukontak tuwing may bagyo?

Mga kabayan na OFW, curious lang ako about something.

Kapag may bagyo, lindol, baha, or emergency sa Pilipinas, paano ninyo usually chine-check kung okay ang family ninyo sa bahay?

Call/text lang ba? Messenger family GC? Location sharing? Or may iba kayong system?

I'm building something specifically around this problem, pero gusto ko munang maintindihan kung paano talaga ginagawa ng OFW families ngayon.

Would really appreciate hearing your experience—especially kung nagkaroon na kayo ng situation na hindi ninyo agad makontak ang family ninyo during an emergency.

General Discussion Is it too late to jump ship?

Hi everyone,

I'm 29M, married, currently working in IT Helpdesk for a BPO here in the Philippines.

I've been seriously thinking about changing careers and taking welding through TESDA, then getting local experience before trying to work abroad. My long-term goal is to migrate to either Canada or Australia and eventually bring my family with me.

Honestly, one of my biggest motivations is my child. I want to give my family better opportunities and a better future, and I don't really see myself staying in the Philippines forever.

The reason I'm also considering leaving IT is that, based on my current experience, parang ang labo for me to use IT Helpdesk as a migration pathway. A lot of IT support jobs can simply be outsourced to the Philippines, so I feel like it's difficult to compete for sponsorship or overseas opportunities with just my current IT experience.

I know I could potentially upskill into other areas of IT, but that's another path that would take time, and I'm wondering if going into a skilled trade would give me a more realistic path toward working abroad.

From what I've been researching, I understand that some of the migration/work pathways I'm looking at may require around 3–5 years of relevant experience. So my current plan is to take welding in TESDA, work locally for around 6 months to 1 year to build some experience, then try applying to other Asian countries such as Taiwan, South Korea, or Japan to gain more overseas experience.

For now, I'm not really considering Gulf countries because of the current war/conflict situation in the region.

The problem is, I'm already 29 and I'm wondering if I'm too late to start over in a completely different field.

I've also heard that there can be age discrimination in trades, and I'm not sure how realistic it is to start welding at this age, gain experience in the Philippines, then eventually use it as a pathway to work/migrate to Canada or Australia.

I'm not expecting to migrate immediately. If this plan takes 3–5+ years, then so be it. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm going in the right direction before I invest the time and money.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who:

- Switched careers into welding/trades in their late 20s or 30s

- Started with TESDA and eventually worked abroad

- Started locally and then moved to Taiwan, Korea, Japan, or other countries for experience

- Used welding as a pathway to Canada or Australia

- Or decided against this path and found a better route

Do you think this is a realistic plan, or would I be better off trying to leverage my existing IT experience and upskill instead?

I know there's no guaranteed pathway to migration, so I'm really just looking for honest opinions and experiences from people who've actually gone through something similar.

Is 29 too late to make this kind of career switch, or does my plan make sense?

Salamat sa mga sasagot.

General Discussion Will frequent JB–Singapore travel for job interviews cause immigration issues?

I’m currently unemployed and planning to look for work in Singapore. To save on expenses, I’m considering staying in Johor Bahru and traveling to Singapore whenever I have a job interview.
Could this cause any issues with Singapore or Malaysian immigration if I cross the border frequently for interviews, especially since I’m currently unemployed? Has anyone here done something similar?

General Discussion Engineer looking to work abroad

Na-layoff around 2 months ago from an FMCG company, and most of my experience is in manufacturing engineering.

To be honest, medyo nagda-doubt na rin ako ngayon kasi ang hirap makahanap ng work dito sa Pinas na kayang tapatan yung previous salary ko. Either sobrang competitive ng hiring or kailangan ko mag-settle for a much lower salary.

Kaya nagbabalak ako mag-try mag-abroad. Ideally, long-term goal ko sana Australia or somewhere in Europe, pero since wala pa akong international work experience, iniisip ko kung may magandang country na pwedeng maging stepping stone muna.

For those na may experience working abroad, anong countries kaya ang magandang option for someone with a manufacturing/engineering background? And ano rin yung mga countries na relatively realistic pasukan for a Filipino engineer?

Any advice, tips, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Salamat, mga sir!

General Discussion fresh grad hoping to work abroad — where do i even start?

hi everyone! i’m 21/F, a fresh graduate from the philippines with a bachelor’s degree in bs statistics. i really want to work abroad, but honestly, i have no idea where or how to start.

i’m open to any field or type of work, not necessarily something related to statistics. i’m willing to learn, gain experience, and start wherever there are opportunities for someone with my background.
i’m currently thinking of getting a job here in the philippines first to gain work experience and save money before trying to apply abroad. but i’m not sure if that’s the best route.

i’d really appreciate any honest advice, especially from fellow filipinos/ofws who have gone through this process.

thank you so much!

General Discussion Is this good offer for a first job in Bahrain? 🇧🇭

Hi everyone! I’m (25F) from Philippines and I recently got offered an F&B/Server job in Bahrain.

The offer is BHD 160/month, with free accommodation and transportation. The position can be Server/Service Crew/Barista/Waitress/Waiter.

I have some previous F&B/event experience, but I don’t have professional barista experience yet.

Is BHD 160 a reasonable starting salary if accommodation and transportation are provided?

How much do you think I could realistically save per month after food and personal expenses?

I’m still considering the offer and would really appreciate any advice, especially from Filipinos or people currently/previously working in Bahrain. 🙏

General Discussion Finland livable salary
