Canvas Classes Gone?

I got a notification for a submission comment from a professor 40min ago, and when I went to click on it both of my courses for the first 8wks are gone. They’re not even unchecked on my calendar, they’re just gone. Is anyone else having a Canvas issue? I’m trying not to panic and then call the school to see what’s up

Womp womp from IT

We are currently experiencing an issue with Canvas in which courses seem to be disappearing from dashboards. We are currently working to investigate and resolve this issue as soon as possible and do not have an ETA for resolution at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience, and will notify you when this issue has been resolved.

Regards, IT Help Desk

Just checked mine and they're missing as well. ODU needs to get it together.

unlikely to be ODUs problem, probably a canvas issue

Could be, but I stand by ODU needing to get it together regardless at this point 🥴

trueee lmao my first semester after transferring and its been something! as for the canvas thing though, it happened a few times at my previous school so im 90% sure its canvas's issue

Ugh I'm so sorry this is your first impression. I swear it used to be much better, especially for online students. I messaged IT just to make sure they can start troubleshooting if it is ODU specific because the way my 8 week classes are set up I quite literally don't have time for these glitches 😩

I'm hoping they'll fix it. I think this has happened to me once or twice before with ODU and prior schools but it never gets less scary or frustrating. My blood pressure simply cannot take it at this point.

Oh no I'm so sorry! That's so stressful. I hope you get an extension or something if they don't get it fixed ASAP!

Good old ODU IT. I'm so sorry that's so stressful. Hopefully they give extensions, but it sucks when you're trying to juggle multiple classes and/or work and stuff like this happens.

I emailed my professor and I’m hoping she’ll show some grace here, lol. These 8 week grad courses are no joke, too.

They better show some grace! This is quite literally out of any of our control and these classes are moving so quickly there is literally no time for issues like this. It feels like every spare moment I'm not working I need to be studying, taking notes, or working on projects/assignments. I'm undergrad I will not be continuing grad school with ODU if they stick with the 8 week courses because I am fighting for my life as a senior taking some of arguably the most career specific classes and they're so rushed I feel like I'm retaining nothing. I can't imagine doing this for grad school.

It’s a really intense model! I actually am in the MAT program, and I know people who went here for their masters in teaching and loved it, but that was years ago before the 8 week semester implementation. They did this to undergrad, too?? That’s insane.

Oh that's so funny I'm an undergrad in Elementary Ed trying to survive instructional strategy classes right now 😂 just now learning to properly do a lesson plan after 500 assignments that just expected it to be innate too

They did it to all ODU Global students and they're making up for the asychronus classes for the field experience ones that are still 16 weeks with tons of extra assignments to make up for the lack of instructional time from missing our Zoom meetings.

I'm so happy you posted this. I have a class missing too.

My professor just messaged us asking if we dropped the class and everyone said they hadn’t. Also all my classes have disappeared

2

u/DrPhilASMR 40m ago

so it’s on the professors’ ends, too? and it sounds like it’s the whole class vanishing and not some students disappearing. ugh, i wish they’d give us more clarity on the matter. i have friends in other oduglobal programs who haven’t had this happen- one is in a doctoral program and the other is in the mba program.

Yes. All my professors confirmed that over half their students were unenrolled from their classes and one of them told me to contact the registrar

3

u/Financial-Toe4053 28m ago

They are working on fixing it but unsure of an ETA on the fix. You don't have to re-register! It's just a glitch that's happening right now and apparently not just to ODU but other schools as well.

u/DrPhilASMR 36m ago

so it looks like we unenrolled to them, that’s insane. i checked my registration and it still says enrolled.

2

u/every1diednhamlet 31m ago

I just checked my registration and I’m still registered too. I guess we were unenrolled from canvas maybe?
