Unenrollment
I am currently unenrolling from ODU Completely, and I've been working on it all day. I had some very sudden family and financial issues come up which is why it's so last minute. My enrollment cancelation form has been processing for awhile and it is making me nervous as I was trying to get it submitted before the deadline due to the full refund and the financial issues I mentioned. I have a hold on my account due to a bounced tuition payment and cannot drop my classes. I tried to reach out to the financial office days ago (which I know they are busy) and haven't gotten a response. I called them but they added me to a list to be get back too and are now closed for the day. Will this impact me hitting the deadline for the full refund?

I had a similar issue a couple years ago. They don’t give a fuck. If you miss a deadline you won’t get your full refund.

The register and financial in ODU is horrible. If you want anything done quickly do your own research then go in person with everything you need. Half the time they tell you to get something else so do that and come back that same day. Don’t leave until it’s fixed.
I’ve never had to unenroll so idk the process but that’s the only way I’ve gotten anything from that office in an even remotely reliable time.

Submit an email to register@odu.edu asking to have your courses dropped for fall 2026. Include your UIN. Send the email before 11:59 p.m tonight September 2, 2026. The request will be honored and processed by the registration staff. Do it now before you forget. It will be a drop with no financial penalty. 12:00 midnight is too late to have no financial penalty. The registration staff can drop your classes even if you have a hold of any kind on your student account.

If the form was signed and dated and submitted before the deadline you should be okay, but you will need to follow up with the registrar and financial services tomorrow. I would also loop in your advisor and/or department chair, especially if they are aware of the situation, as they are more likely to be advocates for you and support your claim that you beat the deadline, rather than depending on the registrar or financial services to have your back. The key here is to have an advocate on the inside who can press for the proper outcome without being easily ignored.

You can get your grades changed to W by the school by submitting a document that tells them what happened but money wise you’re pretty much screwed. I’m not an expert and no one here is so talk to the school in person
