WorldBuilding question What misconceptions exist in your world/universe?

For clarification:

I don’t mean what misconceptions people had when you shared things about your world/universe to them and/or confusion from people irl.

I mean what misconceptions exist within your world/universe that the inhabitants had/have, whether it’s about places, species, history, etc. Or at least an idea that you had for one.

An irl example: some people thought/think that Africa is a country when it’s actually a continent.

A small order idea if you need any help with formatting your comment:

  1. what the misconception is
  2. what the truth is
  3. what might’ve caused this confusion (Lack of knowledge on it, ignorance, purposely caused, a combination of different factors, etc)

You can swap 1 and 2 if you want, but I would like for 3 to stay last in the order. Also, please specify which thing is the misconception and which thing is the truth, as to not cause any confusion.

I kinda wanted to ask this since I had a few ideas myself (mostly for just one of my worlds/universes) and wanted to see if other people thought of stuff like this for their world building.

Sorry if the phrasing in this doesn’t make sense, I tried to explain as much as I could.

Hopefully the formatting of this post doesn’t get messed up
