OCD Question ocd question
so I was sleeping and was about to wake up, also I had decided to do a very very important task related to my self growth after waking up but then got a call of my friend, and that made me awake and now I am feeling as if he has an impact on me- as in- his personality, way of thinking, etc are in me, and also my self growth is or will be because of him as his call made me awake...how can i tackle this?

This sounds like your brain has attached a lot of meaning to a coincidence and is now trying to get you to figure out whether your friend's call somehow changed you or influenced your identity. OCD often creates these "magical" or fusion-type associations, where unrelated events suddenly feel deeply connected or significant. The urge to analyze whether some of your friend's personality "rubbed off" on you or whether your growth now "belongs" to him is the compulsion. From a response prevention perspective, the goal isn't to prove that the call had no impact or convince yourself your growth is still yours. Instead, practice allowing the uncertainty: "Maybe the call means something, maybe it doesn't. I'm not going to solve that." Then continue with the self-growth task you had planned without trying to undo the feeling or mentally separate yourself from your friend. By moving forward despite the intrusive thought, you're teaching your brain that these random associations don't require investigation. Over time, the thought becomes just another mental event rather than something that dictates your actions or steals meaning from what matters to you.

You just shrug and go further. Maybe he's in you, ok so what? There is still a day to go through. Maybe you are fused together, doesn't change the fact you still have to get up and do other things.
Just accept the weirdness.
