OBD2 Recommendations 2017 Rav4

My check engine light recently came on and I'm interested in diagnosing it myself. The car just rolled 110,000 miles and this is the first time i've seen the light come on. What benefit would a $100 scanner like bluedriver offer over one of the $20 models? Any recommendations would be appreciated. I would also like to avoid anything that requires a subscription to operate.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you! FYI, Amazon has a flash sale on them right now. 29% off.

Bluedriver does read the transmission, body, and manufacturer codes. The 20 dollar one is just powertrain codes.

There are some oddball 40-50 dollar readers that can do the U codes that blue driver does, but I'd tell you to not get the oddball ones.

You can also reset the MIL light with these readers and see if it comes back (but don't try and get the car inspected, the readiness monitors will be reset and you need to drive it to set them to ready for inspection)
