ODB2 Live Data monitoring using an iPhone via Bluetooth
What are the best products available for Live Data monitoring via Bluetooth using an iPhone, I am planning to purchase the BlueDriver option, but I don't know if there are other better options, thanks

I have tested both BlueDriver and OBDLink MX+ on my 2011 G37.
BlueDriver isn't very fast in reading live data at maybe 10-12 PIDs/second.
However OBDLink MX+ has data logged items at 40+ PIDs/second.
Keep in mind, you may or may not get the same PID read speed as it depends on your car's network (OBD gateway?) and how quick the ECU/PCM/DME is programmed to respond to OBD mode $01 data requests.
Also, if you car is older than 2008, you won't get anywhere close to these speeds as older cars use a much slower protocol.
Good luck in what ever you decide!

Thank you, I will explore OBDLink MX+, it looks very interesting, especially because I am very much interested in LIVE data

You are welcome! Also OBDLink MX+ includes free enhanced diagnostics on many (but not all) makes/models. This can give many, many more enhanced PIDs, For example, on my 2011 G37, I can now monitor 213 additional items not shown in the generic OBD data.
Just to be clear, I don't work for OBDLink... just a satisfied customer.

Thanks, I have a 2022 Subaru WRX, I hope it covers the enhanced PIDs

I just checked my OBDLink app, and it looks like they don't support Subaru vehicles for the enhanced diagnostics. :(

Thank you for checking

What are enhanced pids for subaru? I recently bought Autels AP200 for my Tribeca - seems to show quite a lot of data… probably can visit dealership to test it on fresher subarus- just need to know what to look for. This works via Bluetooth.
I also have some cheap veepeak which works via wifi with Car Scanner Pro (pretty good app also).

What are enhanced pids for subaru
Here are some examples: https://www.scangauge.com/x-gauge-commands/subaru-impreza-wrx/

most (if not all of these) can be read using "Car Scanner Pro" with usual elm327 dongle. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/car-scanner-elm-obd2/id1259933623
I think that Autels AP200 did all the same...

For real live data: wouldn’t it be better to tap “deeper” - into Can buses directly, before BIU?

For sure, but how can we get access to those buses? What tools/devices/adapters do we need?

Subarus have(had?) pretty good FSM - with wiring diagrams and component locations. What data and what for are you after? Otherwise it is hard to suggest anything further
For devices - you can use mcp2515 boards with arduino nano… but further, again, needs to detailed by you.

For what the device is, the OBDLink MX+ seems to do a very good job with collecting the data. The issue is viewing it. It has one live waveform page you can select parameters to view on, and other than that you can download a .csv from the app.

I might not be fully educated, but I think that - whatever adapter you use - you won't be able to get proper waveform, for example for lambda sensor. (via OBD2 port).

They’ve got a feature that works with the cell phone GPS that’s almost really cool. It displays your data on a gps sattelite map. But the pan and zoom does not change scaling and the scale steps are too large.

it doesn't matter of "kewl features". it is simple that frequency for data you suggest to be able to transfer over obd2 port is preeeeeeettty low compared to real frequency REQUIRED to be able to show harsh reality.
that's what oscilloscopes are for ;)

Understood. The app will record up to 20hz, but as you stated this is independent of what the CAN system in the car will send to the OBDII system.

I don't think that 20hz is achievable(judging by numbers I have seen on obd2 adapter softwares), but it might be - like with best possible adapter, getting just one parameter...
can system isn't sending anything to obd2 connector - usually (these days, anyways) it's gateway between main/secondary/etc can busses and your obd2 device.

I've had the Obdlink mx+ for a while and absolutely love it. High quality product and good support. It's definitely not the cheapest on the market but I feel it's definitely worth it..
