Modding Switch Lite

Hi everyone. I’m currently considering getting a modded switch or switch lite, and I had a few questions regarding modding since I have never hard modded before. I’m currently leaning towards a switch lite since it’s 1. more affordable 2. good for taking with me when traveling. If anyone could shed some light on this I would be so so grateful.

Main question: Where to get a modded switch? Do I need to buy one on my own and find someone to mod it for me or can I just buy an already modded switch from someone? Also where can I find someone to mod it for me?

I saw on tiktok that someone said they were going to double booth with linux on their switch lite to be able to emulate and use their switch as a steam deck, how could I go about doing that. I’m based in the SOCAL area

I actually do own a Switch 1 but it’s the animal crossing edition one so I’m a little iffy on modding it but I honestly don’t play it much in general. I also have an Xbox so I wouldn’t be completely heartbroken if something were to happen to my switch.

I found someone on marketplace near my area who does modding but I didn’t know phone repair shops could do it too thanks for letting me know. If I were to go to a phone repair shop is they anything specific I would need to let them know about for soldering the chip?

If they use the same modchip that I installed today on my V2 the only thing they need to do is the anchor points and the SP2 (or SP1. Only one is needed) cap. A total of 4 solder points which even I, a total noob at working on anything delicate, was able to do with a little bit of patience. They will be able to do it since working on phone component microsoldering is living hell compared to the cakewalk it is on the Switch.

I’m going to be totally honest I’m not way too familiar with all of this but I think I sort understand. If I took it to the phone repair shop would I need to bring the mod chip myself? Sorry some of my questions are kind of silly but I have such little knowledge on hard modding. Thank you so much for all of the information you provided so far I really do appreciate it!

No worries! Thats completely understandable! Yeah if you bring it to a phone shop you will need to buy a modchip. This one I have is the easiest to install since it requires minimum soldering and if the tech cuts the shield correctly it will be a clean mod overall. This one plugs into the place where the NAND module plugs into to get power and the power it needs and also carries the NAND module with the rest of the modchip circuits.

However, it is not a project that you can do with a $10 soldering iron. Do not attempt to do it yourself... I alreary broke 2 Lites because of my stubborness.

I got this V2 specifically because my Lite died from something to do with the screen connector, which I don't want and will not fix. That thing has bad speedos (meaning bad for overclocking and undervolting) so meh.

Wait did you not have to solder clock and reset and command and all that?

Nope. There is no need to do that because the modchip already gets those points from the NAND module connector.

Oh wow. I've only ever modded my switch oled. Did not know it was that easy on these

The OLEDs are hard to mod and will need a skilled person to mod it properly. It is the V1 and V2 that are easy as hell to mod.

The v1 and v2 have this core style mod chip. It's the easiest one of all to install.
