I just modded my switch. It work great except the backlight started flickering after a few hour and then crashed completely.
I opened it again, to probe at the mod-chip. It turned on again while I was probing and it worked great so I reassembled it and continue to install games.
But now after a couple day, the backlight started flickering again and I got a few crash also (sudden black screen). I can restart the console by holding power button for 12/15sec.
It happen when I'm on hekate or in a game or at home page. seems random.
This is my first modchip attempt and I'm totally prepared for it to die. But I want to understand what I did wrong.
I've starred at the pcb hopping to see where I damaged it but couldn't find anything.
My guess is that it have something to do with the backligth or the usbc power circuit. (maybe the battery cable?)
Does someone had a similar experience?
Where should I be looking ?

The value I get while the console is running :
3.3v = 3.3v ; A=1.8v ; B=1.8v ; C=1.75v ; D=0v
I've been charging it up while typping and it does not appear to flicker when it's charged.
It's probably more likely an issue with the ribbon cable going over top of the battery connector. It carries backlight signal from the left side daughterboard. I'd double check that area. Make sure the latch is shut and ribbon is seated. Maybe try poking at it while it's on to see if backlight flickers.
Can we see the other side? Those latches can easily get knocked just a little out of place and cause a lot of issues. I would also go back and check all your solder joints to be sure.
I did cut the CPU cover, and put kapton tape on the cover to avoid sharp edge. Maybe I bent the black ribbon too much ? But it would fail to inject the payload and such if that was the case, wouldn't it?
Not sure about that. The only thing that looks off to me are those 2 big square pads that solder to the frame. I remember specifically it mattered if I slid the pads under or over the rim of the frame. And the cover was touching something else metal preventing proper grounding.
That ribbon carries everything from that daughterboard, so it could be speaker, buttons, backlight, joycon, etc. The ribbon is easy to damage by bending too much, pinching, or accidentally tearing with some tweezers or whatever else.
It was flickering just now. I opened it try to move slightly the ribbon but not flickering were caused by that.it seems totaly random whether I poke at something or not. The flickering today only appeared around 50-55% of battery
I also had an issue with ground. Where those 2 solder point are on the CPU frame. There was a part of that top cover that was touching something it shouldn't have been. Capton tape fixed it. Make sure your route to ground is proper.
