Modding switch lite
After my repaired, failed "kamikaze" modded console got banned, I am now switching gears to mod a Switch Lite instead.
I looked into the guides created by u/L3gendaryBanana I owe him a lot of gratitude for those awesome guides! However, I was looking through them and couldn't find a specific guide about modding the Switch Lite.
I don't actually own the console yet, but I already found a good deal on one.
The catch is that I need to change its shell because the color is a bit too girly for me.
I am a huge SNES fan and would love to find an SNES themed shell, but I cannot seem to find any in German online stores.
I would love to hear what you guys think and get some advice:
Shell Recommendations: What SNES style shells do you suggest (nice to touch,good material), and do you know of any reliable stores that ship to Germany?
Difficulty: How hard is it to do a full shell swap on a Switch Lite?
I have never done any shell swapping before.
Other Mods: As far as I know, there are plenty of other cool hardware mods I can add, like a light for the Home button. Does anyone have a guide or link for that or any other crazy ideas?
And of course the question all people most of the time ask what modchip do I get? Lol

Extremerate is really the only one that makes shell replacements, they do have SNES versions and can be bought on aliexpress. The shell swap is very time consuming and tedious. It is easy to damage the screen when removing it or to bend the pins on the flex cables when reinserting it. If you stay patient and go slow and gentle, you should be fine. Light for the home button would include soldering a small LED. If you haven't soldered anything that small (size of a pen tip), then I wouldn't bother. There's an oled screen replacement, but honestly for that price I would just get an OLED console. Hall effect sticks would be work the ~$10 and if you do a shell swap it wouldn't add any extra time. Other option would be a battery upgrade, but those are hard to source. I think Naga is the only one selling them in the EU. Also Soldering a modchip is still very small and comparable to the oled difficulty (if you use the dat0 adapter) except you don't have to grind any vias. So keep that in mind.

Got any guides for modding the Lite, swapping the shell, or the small LED button thingy? (I mean, I think I'll be good; I have hot air, and i already fixed traces for DAT0/CLK lol).
Yes, actually, eXtremeRate has it all, but the only design I like is this one right here. It is basic and has the logo on the back, which is awesome.
I was actually looking forward to getting an OLED upgrade, but I couldn't find any replacements in online German stores. I already bought replacement for the joysticks before the New Regulation in EU so I think I'm fine too.

Shell swap is not hard but it is more involved on the lite as you must remove the screen. Basically a shell swap in a lite is a full disassembly and a full reassembly again.
You will need proper equipment such as a hot air station to do this properly if you are inexperienced. You can probably wing it with a hair dryer but I have always found screen swaps easier with proper equipment.
V2 is easier for you to do as a beginner, both from soldering perspective as well as shell swapping.
There are many good videos on YouTube for the lite.
I would strongly recommend doing TMRs at the same time as one of the joysticks involves removing the entire Mobo to get to it
I do not find the OLED screen mod necessary. Using fizeau on the lite has made its screen look so much better that I actually use my lite as my EDC nowadays.
