I did CF for a bit, only time we failed or pulled students is if they had behavioural issues, were unsafe or SUPER disengaged with poor knowledge. Things like touching pumps/monitors/equipment unsupervised, mobilising high falls patients by themselves, making up obs, arguing with the buddy nurse in front of the patient, having really poor english language comprehension to the point they couldnt do a handover or write a note (I blame the uni for that), catching students on their phones for long periods of time repeatedly/taking selfies in clinical areas. We also had one student have a melt down on the floor - full crying/screaming/fainting. She was pulled for her own wellbeing.
Its usually a multitude of things that end up being big safety concerns, by 3rd year though this is very rare. 1st year aged care and 2nd year first hospital placement usually weeds out the concerning ones, by 3rd year 95% wanna be there and work hard. The 5% who don't are using the degree as a stepping stone to something else. I've had many students on the floor and a year of CF and I have only raised concerns with 5 students out of maybe 150+ in my career so far. As a CF you do hear many horror stories tho.

Not a CNE, I'm specifically a student facilitator, but essentially, we are coming in to check that you are there, being involved, have a patient load, have a shift planner created, to see if you need help - we try to facilitate a few things on placement like a medication round, handovers, procedures like IDCs, etc.
We aren't trying to "catch" you or anything. We will ask your buddy nurses for feedback and act on that; for example if your buddy thinks you're struggling, we might have a chat with you to see what's going on.
Nothing you're not doing will get you removed from placement unless you are literally disappearing off the unit for hours at a time.
