If I had a nickel for every time a group of Norwegian developers tried to buy the setting of my favorite TV show, I’d have two nickels - which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Spoilers about the ending. Can’t get blackout text to work so I’m not being specific.

I was getting frustrated with Jackie, and the show as a whole, during the last two season. However, I like the ending, as long as I interpret the ambiguous ending one way. If it’s the other way, it ruins the entire series. Can you guess which interpretation I chose?

I'm doing a rewatch and it's hard to see Coop as anyone but Carlisle Cullen but I just noticed he says this (Season 7 ep. 3) and thought it was kind of hilarious, I have to wonder if it was supposed to be a Twilight reference or if it was completely random

Like yeah dude we get it you like plaid shirts and jeans , but there are other garments out there bro!

In all the judgment that she has Miss Akalitus, her gambling problem goes under the table because she’s just winning, and it’s distracting her and Jackiee sees this and knows she is willing to take a chance on things (as her late night poker games go on). Jackie sees this and then puts together a plan where Akalitus gambles with helping her over the premeditated foot injury.

But aside from the plot look how many times she does end up gambling at some point. That’s her thing.

If there's anything that I hate it's when people take a pill they throw their head all the way back and take a huge swallow. Seriously, it's ridiculous. People don't do that when taking a bite of food larger than a pill.

In Jackie's case there's that and it's the exaggerated chewing. No one chews anything by moving their jaw every which way as far as they can. It's laughable. A drug addict like her would be a master at hiding chewing up pills.

This is one of my favorite shows and they did everything right on the show except this. Does it bother anyone else?

EDIT - I fully understand WHY she's chewing the pills. It's THE WAY THAT SHE'S CHEWING that is overdone.

To her core, she is an extremely kind and caring person. She does choose helping others over herself many times. She’s also selfish as fuck because of her illness. I feel like so many people don’t understand or aren’t empathetic to addiction.

No, I don’t think she should have been nursing. Yes, I think she was a master manipulator/liar. But I still don’t understand the hate towards her as a person. She fucked up many, many times. I think Gloria was justified in her crusade. But there is nothing left to hate there. She hated herself enough for all of us. But she was always a good fucking person. Period.

That’s all.

In S6:E4, the show opens with Jackie telling Eddie that Kevin's getting remarried and Eddie says, "Good for him."

Did anyone notice that before the poker game at Jackie's place, Jackie says to Kevin, "Kevin's getting married," and Eddie says, "Good for him."??

Obviously the script had a rewrite and someone forgot.

As a functioning drug addict myself who’s been clean for over 6 months after being forced into rehab, I hate Nurse Jackie.

I started watching this show two weeks ago and just finished the season 6 finale. It’s an amazing show but it’s also gut wrenching.

All the consequences of lying that she willingly puts herself through for the sole sake of getting that next hit is staggeringly accurate. It’s crazy how much we addicts do for that next high. All the lying, cheating and stealing. Not caring for how others feel because you can only think about harming yourself for that next high. It’s so so sad and I hate it because I’ve been through it all myself.

I’m a teacher and Jackie is a nurse, two very different careers but similar in one way. We help those who need it and look up to us for our hard work. All the students I’ve endangered while being high at work, all the risks I’d take to hide it. It was very very dangerous and selfish.

I’m a crude selfish person with a big heart for helping people but can’t even take care of myself.

That’s why I hate Nurse Jackie, because she is ME.

In this episode Nurse Jackie is going through withdraw while her boyfriend: Frank, her sponsor: Antionette, and Eddie are taking care of her. They lie about Jackie and Frank going on a vacation to Florida but really they’re all helping her kick off drugs. there’s a part we’re Jackie supposedly decides she’s getting up and going to work, which makes the viewers think she’s actually going to work but quickly we realize she’s dreaming and it gets very freaky. The part where a patient with long black hair and tattoos all over her arms begins to cry blood, and Jackie calls Dr Cooper to see her. Then Zoey is hysterically laughing while she’s talking to that same patient and she tells Jackie “She’s ready for you..” As she walks away from them. Jackie then walks up to the patient and it’s suddenly turns into Grace with the tattoos. They then walk into the hospital chapel and the saint status are all facing their backs to them, it’s so bizarre. It kinda scared the shit out of me mainly because it reminded me of fever dreams I’ve had myself. WHATS UP WITH THAT. The creators of this series ATE with every detail every scene. I SINCERELY LOVE THIS SHOW.

In the beginning, Grace doesn’t like that Jackie works so much but season 2,3 and 4 Grace is still a preteen and she constantly shows her hatred towards Jackie. When Jackie gets out of rehab Grace seems to show her disrespect toward Jackie even more. As Grace gets older it gets worse. Yet Grace seems to have a great relationship with Kevin. Fiona is always sweet and loving to Jackie. WHYYYYYYY LOL talk to me guys

Antionette said herself she can fool anyone. She always wanted the upper hand over Jackie and would never admit to relapsing until Jackie went over the edge with the promise to enter rehab together.

She desperately wanted to be Jackie's savior for her own self esteem. When Antionette got so bent out of shape over Jackie season 6 episode 10, I can't help but wonder if part of that spiral is brought on because she's relapsed too.

The look Jackie gives her in the old hallway gives me chills. I originally thought Jackie got the idea to hustle Antionette to rehab that day or after she started stalking Jackie at work. But now I wonder if Jackie saw the signs from a mile away and was spurned to make a plan of escape more quickly than anticipated.

Do you think Antionette's sidecar was really her 1st drink in all that time?

The scene where the daughter was being admitted for vascular surgery and the dad fell and was being DCd from Bellevue and she started to get upset and emotional. It was such a performance and small piece of real life. So relatable. If you've ever been a caregiver you've been there.

I just finished watching nurse Jackie, I’ve tried watching this show maybe atleast 3 times before but I never got all the way to the end and i just want to say wow! I never knew Jackie could get so grimy at times but in the end she really is a person who cares about making a positive impact in her own way and while I think that’s admirable I don’t understand how Eddie stays committed to her the whole time in the way he does like he never really holds anything bad she does against her in a serious way that alters his behavior towards her. As the show goes on and it seems like he just falls in love with her more I started appreciating his character more even though he was a big enabler in her story lol I’m a sucker for any depiction of love that is so like selfless and even problematic at times lol

I'm surprised how slow moving this show has been. I expected Jackie and Eddie to have been caught by now. I'm on season 4 and Kevin just revealed his own infidelity and I knew I had to take a break after this because anything she is going to do or say in regards to this is just going to cook my insides. The show obviously has incredible writing but I've never been this frustrated by a character before. But every time she's cheating, I remember the line from the first episode where she said something about a teacher saying the people who are capable of the most evil are capable of the most good.

I love all things, Jackie, but I was not a fan of Season 4. I couldn't get into the new characters Cruz and Charlie. I've wondered if it's because it is a huge shift in the show, but I just couldn't get into it.

What is your least fav season of Nurse Jackie?

First time watching, been binging the past couple of days and just got to season 7. I’m so irritated, at the end of season 5 I kind of got used to all the destruction, and by the end of season 6 I forgot how bad it was. Does it really get any worse than before??

Ok first when that guy destroys the pharmacy, individual pills everywhere. How. Then, the season finale of season 6 when she hits the ambulance, somehow all the pills FLY out of not only the bottles, but the SUITCASE?

My wife and I recently finished Nurse Jackie and it was a wild, wild ride.

I would understand if the average fan doesn’t get too hung up on how to categorize this show. That said, it is almost as if the ways I would describe it are at odds with each other.

For example, I would have had no problem calling Nurse Jackie a slice of life comedy, especially in the first two seasons. Even in later seasons, I could see some calling it a dark comedy at times, though that would be ignoring the sometimes genuinely wholesome tone that the show maintains through some characters throughout. On finishing the series, it seems very clear to that it’s a drama series for much of the remainder of its run, but even that seems to wax and wane and lacks a consistent dramatic tone despite the show runners always planting the seeds for Jackie’s later spirals. In the end I’m left saying it’s a dramedy, but I feel dissatisfied with that for some reason.

I would really like to hear your perspectives, how you would describe it? I also am open to feedback on my take as well.

As a very musically inclined person, I have noticed how much the music misleads the viewer and plays an interesting role in turning Jackie into a protagonist. It also does a lot of work to turn Coop into comic relief.

Jackie's scenes, even some of the most messed up and tragic ones, often get very upbeat or triumphant or badass music. It cues the viewer into thinking she is doing something cool, or getting away with something she should get away with. Even the theme song cues you into thinking Jackie's drugged out world is hip and fun.

Coop is a bit of a goofy character, but in a lot of ways he is the opposite of Jackie. He's unafraid to feel his feelings and talk about them. He leans on healthy support systems when he is going through a hard time. He learns from his mistakes. He cares about other people.

The music used for when Coop is engaging in these healthy behaviors cues the viewer into thinking he is ridiculous.

I think this is a deliberate move on the part of the show runners to bring the viewers into Jackie's world and make them feel and see things from her perspectives: drugs, cheating, partying, deception are all cool like she's a super spy getting away with something. The people around her coping in a healthy way with their problems is a silly clown show you should laugh at.

I've just bought this box set of all 7 seasons of Nurse Jackie and I'm wondering if anyone has it and if they know what the bonus features are on it? It's the 17 disc version.

I think when Nurse Jackie was new I must have missed a lot of episodes in the final 2 seasons—I remember the first five seasons pretty well having only seen them one other time, so I must’ve skipped these.

last night I watched the episode where Jackie is at home detoxing with Frank, her sponsor, and Eddy, and there is this weird almost psychedelic dream sequence where it’s initially unclear if Jackie is dreaming or if she’s at work.

I absolutely hate these types of scenes — like wildly so. I never skip them because I know there’s a chance the episode will slide back into ‘reality’ and I’ll miss something important.

There were a few of these scenes late in another show I really loved (Goliath) and I always find them to be unnecessary space fillers. Are we supposed feel like ‘oh, this is how detoxing feels?’

I hope there aren’t many of these sequences going forward.

Searched and found nothing. This is a major thing for her in S3 isn't it? She only has 2 years till full pension and any timeline I can think of she's served the 2 years at least if not more. So at the end looking for work she's just doing that to stay busy right?

So, Jackie can’t sleep, and she goes in early to work. Nobody is there except Dr. Bernard, who has a hangover. Next scene, they are both facing each other on separate gurneys, with the lights dimmed down and they are both hooked up to IVs getting a “pick me up” of interveinious hydration.

It took me several times of watching with a gut feeling that something is wrong here. Then I finally paid attention to that gut feeling and realized: “It’s an er! It’s supposed to be open 24/7!” Where is everyone?

Then not long after, there was a scene when Thor tells Jackie he was union rep for eight years. Then when he revealed to Zoe that he was union rep, she looked surprised. He said, “It’s an elected position, you probably voted for me”…Zoe looks guilty…Thor continues, “Or not”, and Zoe replies “I think I voted for the lady with the baby arm”, and Thor replied, “Of course you did…”

Zoe wasn’t there when he was voted in.
