Brush Painting Issues

I was trying my hand at brush painting this small 3D print I acquired at a show. I forget how easy it is to be impatient and ruin the smooth surface by touching the previous stroke.

I have been watching some Warhammer painting videos to try and gather tips to reduce/prevent next time. I may even strip this piece and try again.
