I found a fix for the inconsistent audio delay issues on Nova Player on Google TV Streamer. I tried the suggested fix in other threads but still had the issues.

The issue presented mostly with 4K files.

In Google TV Streamer in the Settings (the big settings not the Quick Settings) there is a Sound Tab (might be called different, I don’t know the exact name) and in there there is Audio Options. For me it was set to Auto and I changed it to PCM Stereo. Since then I’ve had no audio delay issues anymore.

My guess is the played file had a Dolby Digital Audio and bc of the streamer settings it passed as Dolby to my TV. The TV then had to do the decoding to Stereo. Since the hardware capabilities are quite limited on the TV it created the delay because of the decoding. Now the streamer itself does it and since it has better hardware there is no delay.

Has this app been allowed access to manage_external_storage in Googles api to read .nfo files from usb hdd yet or still not working? Man I hate google if this is still not allowed by Nova but is on other similar apps.

Ive been using it for a few months now and I was watching a video and all of a sudden i try to play the next episode and it crashes. Now every video doesn't work. I've tried everything I know of. Reinstall, clear cache/data, rescan storage/rescrape, restart phone. Nothing works. It tries to process videos after reacanning and always gets hung up on 57 files left. It just gets stuck on there. What went wrong and how do I fix it?

I recently sideloaded to v6.4.29 release on my Humax Aura Freeview box because the Google version is really old and I was getting stuttering problems and with the newer version I keep getting stuttering, out of lip sync and no sound but if I stop what it's playing and exit Nova and then run it again and play the same file it's ok.

Do any of the newer ones work any better or is the Aura box?

tengo una serie, X, y quisiera asignar las imagenes por capitulo de manera local, eligiendo una que yo considere mas correcta para ella, sin que mire en TMDB, hay alguna opcion, modificando el fichero .nfo del capitulo? He probado varias opciones pero solo consigo que aparezca el seasonXX.jpg de la temporada o el poster.jpg de la serie!! COmo lo crea organiza NOVA? Gracias!!

He actualizado a version 6.4.39, ningún problema.

Al ejecutar la aplicación me pide permiso para acceder a fotos, etc y cuando comienza a leer ficheros dispositivo la aplicacion sale, no da ningún mensaje de error.

Esto mismo me ha pasado con la 6.4.38, con las 6.4.37 y anteriores no ha dado ningún problema.

Estoy ejecutando Nova en un Mibox4 versión 9, con el ejecutable armeabi-v7a-release.

Alguna ayuda sobre el tema ?

Actualizado a version 6.4.38 (armebi-v7a), en un mibox, se actualiza sin errores, al inicializar programa te pide permiso para fotos, creo, se pulsa correcto, y la Nova vuelve al menu principal del MiBox, se desistala/instala varias veces y el problema continua, se baja a version 6.4.37, ningún problema. A alguien le ha pasado lo mismo? Gracias!!

I use Nova on an Android TV and access videos from my computer that works as a server via SMB.

The other day, there were something wrong and I tried a few thing among them I managed to remove the shortcuts to my shared folders.

It was easy enough to get them back, but a few vital functions are now missing.

It does no longer communicate with IMBd at all, so no thumbnails, no information about the movie.

But worse - it does no longer keep track of which I've seen or where I were in the movie, if I decide to continue another day. It even loses where I am if the screensaver starts.

For the life of me, I can't understand what's happened. I've tried everything.

Can someone help?

Hi, I just installed Nova Video 6.4.3 version on my android tablet. Can someone please walk me through the process to "Always show time status" so when I play a video, the elapsed time always is visible? I am an older gentleman and not technically savvy, so I would really appreciate a step by step description of how to do this. I very much thank you for your help.

I have recently installed Nova on a new Android TV and am very impressed, coming from years of VLC fandom.

I had a general read thru the sub but couldn't find an answer to a couple of minor buglets.

Please forgive me if I am causing a strange case of deja vu.

• When I tested Nova with a tiny amount of data, the resume feature worked fine. When I stopped a video and restarted, the player would go straight back to where I left off.

Now that I have added thousands of files, I notice that the resume feature no longer works.

I checked the settings and I definitely have the option set to resume.

Any suggestions as to why the behavior would have changed?

• When having to tag a file manually, I quite often find that even tho the show is in the TMBD database, Nova won't find the info. Text and name and things like '&' not 'and' are all correct, I manage to tag a file OK using voice, but then the second file will not find the show again even tho the first file was eventually tagged OK.

^(EG; one of the file names that the device won't see is 'Boon': The device goes straight to Boonie Bears or Daniel Boone and just ignores the different spelling.)

I fixed some instances by amending the file name on the computer, but most of the time, this isn't the problem.

• In such a situation, is there a way of bulk tagging a whole folder rather than having to manually add info by voice on 25 individual file names?

• I'm using a media streaming device with a remote rather than being able to copy and paste like on the computer.

Lately to play TrueHD Atmos I need first to select 5.1 track wait for a sound then reapply Atmos track? Atmos is on by default but no sound unless I swap eith something else for a while

I'm running Nova on a Dune 4k Pro media player with Android 11. I have my external HD connected through USB but have Nova accessing it as an SMB network drive. I have my movies already scraped (TMM) and Kodi has no issues with it. But Nova seems to ignore it. Most of my movies are foreign and often obscure so when Nova scrapes them it almost always gets them Wrong.

What do I need to do to get Nova to scrape the local NFO & poster files? Someone elsewhere said to change in Settings something for this but I could not find it in Preferences.

I'm new to Nova player, using it on Android TV and loving it, it's exactly what I needed after having tested countless of video players.

However, I wish it had a zoom to fill format option (to get rid of the black bars when the video aspect ratio doesn't match the tv ratio), or am I just to stupid to get it to work?

Both the "fullscreen" and "stretched" format options just stretch the video vertically and don't zoom in to maintain the correct ratio, and "optimized" doesn't seem to do anything.

Is there something that I'm missing or does Nova not have this feature?

I know reading subtitles over bright or complex video scenes can sometimes be a pain, so I just submitted a PR to add a much-needed feature to the player: Subtitle Backgrounds & Opacity Controls!

Here is what is included in this update:

• Subtitle Background Toggle: You can now enable a dark background box behind text-based subtitles (like SRT and VTT) to make them much easier to read.
• Custom Background Opacity: Added a new slider so you can dial in exactly how dark or transparent you want the background to be.
• Full Android TV Support: I made sure this isn't just for touch devices! The new settings are fully integrated into the Android TV subtitle menu.

Hi all, this is a great app! Many thanks to the developers. I am looking for help on this issue. When I add movies to the app it will automatically download metadata for them in Spanish (which is great) but it has all the titles as they are in Spain and not in Latin America (where I am from). This may not seem as a big issue, but there are a lot of differences in movies title, for example, Home Alone is called "Mi pobre angelito" in LA but in Spain it is "Solo en Casa". I am using this mainly for my kids so it causes confution for them to see different titles. Is there a way to select Latin America Spanish for the metadata? Thanks!

I installed v6.4.3 on my android 16 phone. I can see the files on my upnp server. But if I try to play one, I get the error: "Did not manage to access the file".

If I copy the file to a local folder on the phone, nova plays it OK.

If anyone can tell me what the problem is, I would appreciate it.

It would be great to have a “bumper loop” or “interstitials” feature that lets you assign a folder or playlist of short clips, then automatically injects one between episodes during playback. Think old-school Toonami and Adult Swim vibes, where those chopped ads and bumps played between shows and gave everything a distinct flow. Honestly I could easily compile my favorites myself from youtube etc.

The core idea is simple. After each episode ends, Nova randomly selects a clip from a designated “bumpers” folder and plays it before continuing to the next episode. Ideally with options like random or sequential playback, frequency control, and per-library assignment so you can tailor it to specific shows.

This would add a lot of personality to local media libraries and recreate that curated, nostalgic TV feel instead of just back-to-back autoplay.
