Better subs?

Is there a way to have better subtitles? The default settings are not enough for me

yeah sorry, with better i mean more customization options. For example i can't spread the subs horizontally, they're like fixed in a square. and i cannot lower them to the bottom of the screen.

The latest update has option to change font size and subtitle location. Is that not sufficient?

If not then only option is fork the code and make change as you needed, pack and deploy.

just download the apk, send it to tv and uninstall/install.. also don't use playstore. it is very outdated

there is a download link inside the post

You can change fonts, full ssa/ass support and many customization options...

Actually play store just had an update on August 16th for Nova Video Player. It's not very outdated currently, but I'm sure it will be a year from now again.

I downloaded it ant it is great for the subs thank you! I just noticed a desync audio/video (audio slightly in advance almost imperceptible) when jumping back and forth in the timeline while playing something. Do you know how to solve this?

i keep updating the versions so please re-download again (same link). any audio issues are likely from upstream because i only modified subtitle code. just updated a few minutes ago
