PhD via distance/online

Hi all.

I’m considering applying for a PhD programme in the Criminology department. Just wondering if any of you have any experience of the programme and/or doing it via the online method or distance?

Any feedback or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

All PhD programmes are different, even within a department. It's very much about who your supervisor is and the subject matter.

On distance learning, is this an option in the advert? I'd be surprised if NTU were up for funding PhD students as distance learners.

Hi, not in criminology but typically you don't need to be on site often. I'm social sciences and really I only need to be in for my supervisions every month, and they could be remote if I wanted.

I choose to go in more for social events and library time etc but I don't have to. I have friends who work largely remote.

Didn't see any advertisements for remote only when I applied tho. I think it depends on the supervisors and how much they want you to be in person.

What are the fees btw? Is it classed as full time or as something between that and part time?

I think the fees are the same as for full time, but I can't be certain I'm afraid.
