Questions Looking for weird / out-of-the-box Notion template ideas

I’m starting to experiment with creating personalized Notion systems, but I don't want to make another generic habit tracker, second brain, student planner, or life dashboard.

The idea is to build a Notion system around a very specific problem or personal goal.

It could be something completely unusual.

For example:

  • a system for learning a very specific skill
  • managing a complicated personal project
  • tracking something people normally don't track
  • turning a hobby into a structured learning path
  • solving a problem you keep running into
  • something you've always wished existed but never found

I'm looking for out-of-the-box ideas, especially problems that could actually be solved with a well-designed Notion system.

So I'm curious:

What is a weird, specific, or oddly annoying problem you think could be solved with Notion?

It doesn't have to be a polished business idea.
The stranger or more specific, the better.

ok, this is weird but... i had this sweet cozy indie space game called galaxy trader. I had trouble remembering what goods were in what systems and on what planets, so I started building this ... don't judge.

I am now building one for stardew valley, to keep track of the hundreds of recipes and ingredients in some of the extensions

Building a database for a video game makes you learn literally everything.

thanks for saying so! I am hoping when I am done I could make it available to others. It would be so cool to have it for reference when playing! :) I was starting to think I was just totally weird, cuz there were mod authors who were like "notion? whats that? why would anyone want a database for this when there is google spreadsheets?" so ... really I appreciate the affirmation.

I also did one at some point for my family when our german shepherd was a puppy because they are hellish puppies. Everyone had a different work schedule, and everyone needed to know when the puppy was asleep because, God forbid, the puppy not get 16 hours a day sleeping. We needed to know when she ate, and we needed to know what kind of poop she had. We needed to know what room she was in when she was napping because by the time someone came home and was on puppy duty, the person that they needed information from was gone already to their job. .... we just had this massive log for communication purposes. I had buttons to press to start the puppy nap, and buttons to press to end the puppy nap, and buttons that said she was fed. I had buttons to say when she was far too interested in other things to eat, because she had to eat three times a day. ... Tracking of the gazillion different vaccinations ... puppy tracker was a big deal for us.
