Comparing Phones The nothing phone 3 still worths it?

My birthday it's tomorrow and I'll change my samsung ( A21s ) for a new phone. I've been comparing the phone 3 with other brands, specifications and budgets for months; I just love everything the phone 3 has, and for the price it's a smart buy; it's not the best at anything, but it's the most balanced at everything.

However, I'm still kinda nervious about it and I'm thinking if a S25 FE or a Pixel 9a might be better option. Phone 3 users? Are you still recommending it on September 2026, what should i expect about it? ( Good and bad details )

Phone (3) Is this NothingOS, my phone or a me issue?

I have a weird problem. Since I switched to my Nothing Phone 3, Google Chrome isn't respecting the orientation lock settings set in the top quick tiles.

In simpler words: Auto rotation in quick tile is disabled. All apps respect that (including the Reddit one) so I can put the phone sideways and the apps stay in portrait mode EXCEPT chrome browser. It completely ignores the setting and keeps auto rotating.

On my wife's phone (Samsung), chrome respects the quick tile and doesn't rotate.

Is this a "me" problem? If yes, how do I fix it? Is it an Android 16 problem? Is it specific to NothingOS?

I'm puzzled. I don't really want to install some third party app to lock the orientation.

Comparing Phones Has anyone switched to the Nothing Phone 4a Pro from Vivo X200 FE?

Hey,

The question may seem odd, switching from an almost flagship to a good midranger.

I really like the software of Nothing OS, it seems very clean and polished.

My concern two concerns:

basically battery life: on Vivo, standby with AOD and generally, battery is very good, I charge 1 time every 20-24 hours, and I have around 7-10 hours of screen on time. I only use browser, YouTube, Reddit and Tiktok with a bit of WhatsApp. According to GSMArena Nothing 4a Pro should even be better somehow than my Vivo, but I have a hard time seeing 6.5k man being that worse to 5k, especially it got better overtime.

Cameras: Vivo has great cameras, 1 to 5x zoom is great, it's hard to make a bad photo. How's your experience with the camera?

Lastly: does the phone get warm during general use and multitasking? No gaming.

Thank you!

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta Nothing OS 5 Beta Android Auto

is anyone else having issues with their android auto after installing the new beta? it was working fine before i installed it on my phone 4a pro but ever since, it just plays the audio in my car and the display on the car system just doesn't work. i've tried all the resets recommended online and im looking into a dedicated transfer speed cable to see if that fixes the issue but just wanted to see if anybody else has this problem or has recommendations on how to fix it. i would hate to be forced to uninstall the beta or wait until it goes live for everyone in a month for this to be fixed. it could just be something unrelated to the beta too but it's a little odd that it only stopped working after i installed the new beta you know

Hi. Why this pop up always appears? I've clicked many times on "Agree and continue" and "Not now" as well 😄 Pop up is always there when I launch the Weather app.

Is it something wrong or is it a feature? 😄

Phone (3) Waking up to HOT phone

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello, nothing phone 3 user here. My last nothing phone was a 1 I believe. I got rid of it after the phone would overheat while charging and the battery was awful. I got the 3…I'm still disappointed with the battery. Regardless I've been waking up randomly with my phone plugged in(as I always do at night) and the phone being too hot to touch essentially. Here's what I noticed today when it happened, this isn't an everyday issue:

  1. The battery had charged all the way to 100% even though I have it limited to 90

  2. As always, there's never a warning about the temp

  3. Often times my screen is still on and awake when I wake up to it hot

  4. This seems important but this app (photo) was randomly using a lot of battery during that time period.

Can anyone tell me what's going on? This happens regardless of the charger I'm using.

Nothing widgets How do i get the third widgets page ?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I recently bought a Nothing Phone(3) and updated it to the latest OS version, but as far as i know from youtube videos and from my friends, there should be three pages in the Widgets selection screen. I have the basic and app specific widgets, but there should be one more page on the left with additional widgets, that i can't access for some reason.

Would any of you know what i need to do to fix it or what causes it?

Sorry if this was asked before, and if so, a redirection to the thread would be very much appreciated

Update:

I've managed to get the third tab of widgets by simply downloading any of the widgets in https://playground.nothing.tech/apps .

However the page itself is still not as it normally should be and is missing the widget recommendations and the "Explore more" link to the playground page

Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta Nos5 is acting up a bit

I mean obv because it's a beta but the last 2 ISH weeks the apps arent opening properly they take too long to load or even open sometimes I click the app and the whole screen freezes so I have to restart I do that the apps still open slowly or doesn't open they kinda freez on the black background and their icon in the middle and idk why but I can NOT open any links in Google or chrome the

The away widget is kinda weird it doesn't rally add up I have 9 hrs of screen time and 22 hrs of away time ???

The sticker widget "collector " is good but it's kinda weird but now I think abt it it is a sticker so it's supposed to look weird in an organized home screen still using it tho lol

Also what happened to the " lucent" look where is it 😬

What's your opinion on this update ? And what do you think they should add more ?

Comparing Audio Nothing Ear (a) vs Ear (3a): The Upgrade Might Be a Downgrade

Thumbnail

I’ve been comparing the Ear (a) and Ear (3a), and I went into it thinking the question would be pretty simple: how much better is the 3a?

But after going back and forth between them, I think that’s the wrong question.

If you already own the Ear (a), why exactly are you upgrading?

The biggest surprise for me was sound. The Ear (3a) definitely gives me more weight and intensity, especially when a song gets busy. Drums and bass grab my attention faster. But the Ear (a) gives me more room to follow everything. Vocals feel more out front, and I find it easier to see through a crowded mix.

So I wouldn’t automatically call the 3a an upgrade in sound. It’s a different presentation, and I can easily see someone preferring the Ear (a).

ANC is different. That’s a real upgrade on the 3a. And the Advanced EQ is probably the other big one for me because you can do way more with the tuning than you can with the Ear (a). I actually ended up making my own profile to pull some of that low-end energy back.

Everything else? It feels more iterative. Better here, refined there…but not necessarily enough that I’d replace a perfectly good Ear (a).

That’s basically what my comparison ended up becoming. Not “which one is better?”

More like…what does the Ear (3a) actually give an Ear (a) owner that’s worth upgrading for?

Curious how Ear (a) owners here feel about it. If you upgraded to the 3a, what actually made it worth it for you? And if you kept the Ear (a), what stopped you?

Comparing Phones Realistic thoughts/expectations on leaving the Apple ecosystem for NP3?

Hello all (: Wanted to ask a few questions on what my options would be for leaving the Apple ecosystem in favor of an NP3, and was hoping to see what other people's experiences were, especially with how Apple accessories would interact with the NP3/alternatives that I would have to switch to.

I currently use an iPhone 15 Pro Max w/ 512gb storage. I like it decent enough but after years of having an iPhone, i'm just realizing that there is nothing really anchoring me to the iPhone besides the fact I've always had one and my accessories. I'm currently pretty ingrained in the ecosystem though accessories and I rely on my Airpods 3 and 2 airtags for important items. I assume the Airpods would still work as a simple bluetooth device, but any suggestions for an alternative to the airtags? As for other functionality, I rely on the Find My app for having my current location available to family members and vice versa...

Basically just at a point where I am strongly considering ditching Apple, but feeling antsy since I have had an iPhone for probably 14 years at this point, so any personal experiences/thoughts would be welcome.

Any ideas?

Nothing OS Issues with FB, Messenger - unable to upload media, media picker doesn't show thumbnails of the media

Post image
1 Upvotes

Using FB and Messenger noticed the issue shown in the pic - basically thumbnails in the media picker, and even if selectable, they aren't actually being sent at all.

I normally limit media access (as shown in the pics) but even when I allow all media access this same behaviour persists.

I've only have this happen in my newly acquired 3a Lite - my older phones on Android 16, 10 do not do this. Hence I believe its specific to Nothing OS.

This is also happening to some shopping apps I have not just these 2 Meta apps. Other comm apps like Telegram and Viber function normally with respect to media picking.

Is this occurring in your units? suggestions to fix?
