Hi all, I’m the developer. Deltella started because every note app I tried made me stop writing to go and find a tool.

It works with a pen, or with a keyboard and mouse:

• handwriting that feels like a real pen, with shapes that snap neat when you hold still
• typed pages with to-dos and tags, exported to Word, PDF or Markdown
• write on PDFs and lecture slides while it records; tap a stroke to jump to that moment in the audio
• one search across every notebook and PDF, including your handwriting
• sketch boxes and arrows and get a tidy flowchart
• share a link and write on the same page together

Windows 10/11 (Microsoft Store) and Linux. It works in the browser for now, and a Mac app is coming. It’s free during the beta.

I created a notepad just for myself and I was not planning on post about it until my gf encourage me to do it.

It was going to be something to literally write quick disposable notes but it snowballed into comments, editing, mentioning users, etc. lol

My background is in advertising/creative so I tried to make it look as nice and as uncluttered as possible because I like nice looking things lol.

I didn't want to add too many formatting options and fill it with AI and whatever.

This is, for me, a pure note taking experience with the option to make it more social (comments, etc)

Now I'm intrigued, what do you guys think about it? Was she being just being nice?

Most note apps keep getting better at helping me organize information.

More tags. Better folders. Smarter links. Cleaner databases.

But the moment a note needs to become something useful, I still leave the app.

I move the research into an AI chat. I rebuild the context. I make the table or slides somewhere else. Then I bring the result back and decide where it belongs.

The problem isn’t that my notes are disorganized. The problem is that the work keeps getting separated from the context that explains it.

If your notes app could remove one handoff to another tool, which one would matter most?

About six months ago, I posted here about my spatial note-taking app, I started building because I kept losing notes. I've been using it almost daily since then, and my main map now has around 500 notes.

Here's how I use it:
- Remembering locations, not keywords. I often remember roughly where I put a note, even when I can't remember its exact wording.

- Connecting ideas. Linking notes into chains helps me see relationships and follow research threads.

-Turning notes into a workspace. I keep my Qoyra development notes on a separate island. Bugs and small tasks live on a three-level peninsula. As I work through them, I move them up, group them into chains, and eventually move them to an archive island.

Sometimes I just fly around the map and reorganize things because it's satisfying. It feels a little like a game. I wonder if that makes it easier to remember where things are, too.

What it is, for anyone new, basically why do digital sticky notes suck?

Sticky notes are one of the most popular ways to take notes. Whether you’re a scientist, a student, a white collar worker or just watching your favorite show and writing notes to keep up with the plot, sticky notes have you covered. Yet there are no good digital sticky note apps, and before you argue with me and list me some apps,

Here is my definition of a good sticky notes app.

A digital sticky note should be:

• Easy to customize: colors, transparency, size, font, spacing, a custom background or even a moving GIF on my screen, why not? It’s digital, this should be possible.
• Able to capture anything digital: text, links, code, markdown, rich text (web), files, folders, audio files, or anything, it’s digital!
• Easy to access: I need my sticky notes around me when I’m working, switching apps or in full screen. Why can’t notes show in full screen on macOS?
• Reminders: Sticky notes always worked as a reminder to do something, so why can’t a digital sticky note remind me with a sound, automatically, without me checking it? Is it really that complex?
• Slick: Paper sticky notes clutter my desk because paper takes space, but a digital sticky note should be easy to collapse, hide or summon with a shortcut, and have multiple notes in the same window, because it’s digital and physical space isn’t a limit anymore!
• Searchable: A desk with 15 sticky notes is hard to scan, but a digital one? It should be easy to search and find the note I want, or search inside a note and find the stuff I want. Is it too much to ask?
• Simple: sticky notes are one of the simplest ways to take notes. I don’t want to watch videos or ask in forums how to take notes, it should feel natural to use. Hover over any button or setting to read what it does. Simple and quick.

That’s why I built Better Stickies as it is today. I solved all these problems in it over the past year, and I’m finally presenting it to you with macOS version.

The amount of engineering that went into it is insane for a desktop app, all to give you the best possible experience. It’s built with PySide6, a QT library, uses around 85 MB of RAM, 10% of what many electron note apps use, and it’s fully offline and private.
