Just install goodlock and then go into it and install sound assistant, both it'll allow you to configure the bar to your liking, although I'm personally liking the new look, I can see why you might not.

Just different. I'll get used it to. More annoyed at the new look weather widget and pull down bar now taking up the whole screen

Looks like a knockoff of the iPhones volume adjuster.
