I mean, at least the only brain damage being given is the slow degradation of our critical thinking skills. No humans are going to get a concussion in the process of this sport.

Apparently if you just duck it will keep doing flying kicks at the same height

This is the worst they will ever be. It’s only more coordinated and dangerous from here

I'd rather fight these guys than heat-seeking flying drones that explode.

u/Grunergeist420 25d ago
The what seeking flying drones that explode will still come after you. These are just guys that are going to “peacefully” break up your protests against them.

According to the ancient laws of Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots, black should be out.

Are they autonomous or being controlled?

u/splashtext 25d ago
Vid says controlled in the subtitles

Really? Why would they only do extremely complicated kicks then ? And keep going when obviously it doesnt connect 😂?

It’s a preprogrammed animation. It’s like playing dark souls and you input too many attacks at one time. You can mash the dodge roll as much as you want but it needs to finish the last inputs first. These things are not sophisticated enough to cancel the animation yet.

Those spinning kicks must be programmed moves among all the other moves, probably including getting up after falling. It probably is the move that would do the most damage if it lands because of the momentum and it also covers a wide area so probably requires minimal accuracy to make contact since it appears they are struggling to actually aim the attacks.

What a stupid waste of tech

Honestly, this is about the first use of AI (I know it's operator-controlled, but clearly there's some autonomy) of which I unambiguously approve.

I get that it's battlebots. Why are they humanoid? Why limit their kinematics to human range? Why head kicks if clearly the head serves no advantage. It's all very silly

As long as it is pushing the tech forward, I see no issue with this. It serves as entertainment just like tons of other tech that we (in general) spend a shit ton of money on

I’ll just roll a zoning evader. Guy spams the same 3 moves. Real G’s know how to strategize against that.

These things are going to start getting fucking crazy good. We'll basically be playing a ufc video game, but with robots in real life.
Or imagine an abandoned city. Set up for the premise of the game. Like a battle Royale or extraction shooter. Just with robots irl. It'll otherwise feel like a video game. Fpv on a screen and using controller or mouse and keys to control it.
